Let's show you Friday afternoon's moto number one.
Bayla Herrick, a good start around the outside.
Turner's a little bit buried, able to move up to fourth, but the rider who needed the start was Charlie Cannon on the seven, and she gets the lead.
Oh, we've been talking about it the last couple weeks, just the intensity from Lachlan Turner that these other girls needed to, pick it up, at least in the ear- early part of the motos, 'cause Charlie has the pace and she sh- she did here yesterday.
As you can see, her out front, got that hole shot.
You're gonna see Lachlan Turner gets up to second place as she gets around Herrick, and then the battle was on.
You were wondering, would Bayla be able to do what she's done in the past, be able to close in and get around her?
But before we got to there, this is our, our guest star- Yeah Gillian, Gillian- Yep Danielle Gillian, oh, coming over here.
She makes her way up and gets around Herrick here early in the moto.
You can see Lachlan and Charlie going at it, and then these two, start pulling away, and then Charlie responded when Lachlan got there, and then the first mistake by the champ as she was trying to get around, goes off the racetrack.
Something about this section over here, the woods, catching these, everyone out, these riders out.
And then later on, as you can see, Charlie's pulling away.
Big moment in the championship for her.
I don't know if she stalls it, but nonetheless, she ends up tipping over, then it took her a while to get her bike up, 'cause you can see the gap she had over third place.
She's gonna end up finishing fifth, but by the time she gets going, she had to make some more passes.
It was gonna be costly, and it was Charlie Cannon.
Got to give her credit.
She came out, she executed, looked a lot different.
Kind of looks like Chance Heineman in that 250 class.
Let's see if she can bring it here today, but great moto win by Charlie Cannon.
And Turner only ends up fifth after the crashes, so that is gonna narrow the points lead down.
It was over 20.
She was in contention to maybe clinch the title yesterday.
Instead, it's a 13-point gap over Cannon rallying at the right time.
Yeah, Daniela Guillen, who was leading the WMX points over in the MXGP circuit.
Here we go.
Another great start for Cannon, but Turner is right there with her.
It's one of the best starts we've seen from Turner all year.
She is second, but Charlie Cannon to the lead.
Yeah, double hole shots.
Hole shotted yesterday, hole shotted again, and think you're gonna find out how the difference is as Lachlan already tries to, wow, take that lead.
The difference in the attitude of like, "Hey, we're trying to wrap this championship up" or, "I'm trying to win," and she's trying to win as she goes to the lead.
No doubt about it.
Good start there for Hannah Hodges, third.
Quickly got shuffled by Herrick on the 23.
Into the woods they go.
Now this is their Oh, and down goes Turner.
That's three times that corner has claimed her this weekend.
She's gonna ask for a track change next year, for sure.
And, and, and that is Now you got to start thinking about championship.
She's obviously quick enough to get back inside the top 10, but another mistake.
We've seen it all day long.
She's just got to focus and get back at it, and she makes another mistake.
I wonder if she's trying to get that grip cleaned off.
Dropped that bike when the track is wet here early in the moto, and she now has work to do.
Again, she has to finish 10th to wrap up the title, and she is 17th right now.
In these passes, but it's obviously a lot different when you have the championship on the line, understanding that this is it.
There's no tomorrow.
One mistake could cost you that.
We've seen it in the c- the, the both classes.
But if you, gotta assume if she just stays up, she's probably gonna get that 10th spot.
Well, not easy.
She almost tucked the front trying to get around Astudillo, and then headed toward the section that has led to her undoing several times.
She's gonna go for BOGO special right here.
Oh, but this is, this has been the problem section back in the woods.
I'm probably assuming she- And a problem again.
She's probably thinking about this corner right here, taking her time.
You can see- Oh, she's going way outside the woods.
Yeah.
And still able to make passes.
It's around Tayla Jones on the 713, one of the GNCC racers.
Ironically, this section of the track is designed to pay homage to the cross-country series.
And then back out of that GNC section she goes, up to eighth now.
So she has a two-point buffer, as you can see in the lower left of the screen.
Comes up a little short.
Believe these next couple laps are probably gonna be the most difficult for her because she knows she's in the where she needs to be at.
So take those nerves, just relax, do what you do, and wrap this thing up, but still got a long ways to go as Charlie Cannon's out front.
Bayla's closing that gap down.
Again, leading the points over in the MXGP in their WMX championship.
Hodges under attack from the 51 of Nielson, and this is all gonna affect third in points.
Nielson and Jarvis, essentially whoever wins this battle is gonna be third in points.
Yeah, they were tied, before I believe Nielson made that pass, so And I think she's battling Jarvis.
Yes, Jarvis up ahead in that high vis, the, the green gear.
Then it's Hodges, and then Nielson.
And triple uphill, and Turner makes the move.
And for everybody at home, you wouldn't be You wouldn't understand how difficult it is to hit that triple you just mentioned.
And she's been doing it all day long.
Now you can see her making a pass around Hodges here, possibly.
She's in the groove right now both ways, literally, figuratively.
Outside to inside, makes the move on Hodges.
So that'll put Turner into the top five.
Plenty of points buffer Tannen, she can't think about points right now.
She has her hands full with Maela Herrick.
Yeah, no, and like I said, you know, Maela was She wasn't happy.
This is what we kind of seen, and the way this track is right now, I think a part of it is they're obviously attacking, but still trying to adjust to it.
It is night and day difference than what it was yesterday, so it almost puts a speed limit on, on these ladies, because they gotta focus in on that, and we could see one mistake, you lose that time.
But great ride.
Love what I see from the 23, Maela Herrick.
Ride her to the finish, but she's doing a great job considering how that opening lap went.
Oh, lines almost came together.
Not much room in those ruts.
White flag is out.
Championship run here for Lala Turner.
She's still trying to make passes.
I mean, Michaela, she's gotta have, have the inside here.
Oh, didn't matter.
And Turner, a big move.
Yeah, I don't know if she was taking a look at who's winning or what.
Yeah.
Like I said, she, she only knows one thing, and that's just to go fast, so good ride for her.
She looks better than, she looks better than she did even yesterday, just moving, moving forward.
Looking good.
Well, hey, she wants to look forward because believe it or not, this might be the first moto ever in her pro career not on the podium.
She's in fourth.
I don't think she's gonna get to Gean here, seven seconds down.
And it might be fourth overall for her for the day, so that would break her streak.
But it doesn't matter if she can bring this title home.
Nielson and Jarvis are gonna be tied in points now.
Yeah, I was looking at that earlier, because you get up here as two point, so- Yep Jarvis will still have that tiebreaker.
Yeah, we'll see how that hashes out.
You see Jarvis is still back there digging, see, on some of the longer sections of the track.
But this is it, half a lap away.
Lachlan Turner trying to lock this up.
Tannen gonna do herself one better, got her first ever overall win in America at High Point, now looking for the 1-1 to get it done.
Just able to hold Herrick at bay.
The gap now 2.3 seconds.
Gean, what a debut in America.
She's looking for third overall and third in the moto, but Turner in position for the three-peat.
Excuse me, that was Nielson who has the tiebreaker.
Yeah.
And that might be third in points.
Second in points, that's probably a little disappointing, but she'll be happy with the 1-1.
And the overall, Charlie Tannen takes it at the finale with the 1-1 sweep.
Turner on the gas.
Like she told us, like you just said, she only knows one way.
There's no race management strategy here.
She always gives you everything she had.
Couple of mistakes made it a little nerve-wracking, but no problem at the finish.
Lala Turner is a three-time WMX champion.
Oh, she's gonna go Stroud to whip right there.
Congratulations, Lachlan Turner, and as you said, three-time over here.
Yeah.
Maela Herrick, another Honda rider riding well.
She will end up second in the moto and overall.
And Daniella Gean on the GasGas, coming out of Spain, definitely acquitted herself well this weekend with the third.
Turner fourth, Richards, Nielson, Jarvis, McCutcheon, Hodges, and Astudillo rounded out the top 10 today overall at Ironman.
