Highlights: Women's Motocross Round 5, Budds Creek
Watch highlights from Round 5 of the Women's Motocross Championship at Budds Creek, where Lachlan Turner got the better of rival Charli Cannon again and Mikayla Nielsen started to creep into the fray.

Jordan Jarvis third in points.
Turned out there was a kill switch problem with the bike.
She had to pull back from the gate right before it dropped.
They bump started the bike, got her going momentarily, but eventually wasn't able to finish.
So that's a big shakeup in the standings.
Bad start for the champ, Lachlan Turner, but she goes to work as usual from there.
Good start for McCutcheon there in the 10.
Yeah, you're gonna see Taylor McCutcheon out there followed by Mikayla Nielsen here.
And then as you said, our champ didn't, she didn't get the best of starts, but she moves her way up through.
You see Charlie Cannon, Mikayla Herrick right here.
Finally, Jordan Jarvis, she was able to get going.
Had to watch the cameraman there.
She would continue to ride out there, but tough start for her.
And then it was Nielsen making a pass on McCutcheon early in the moto.
This is a couple corners out there.
These girls are battling right here.
Eventually, Mikayla's gonna get up the inside and lead for a few laps.
You see Charlie Cannon right behind there.
Lachlan turning there as she gets past Herrick.
McCutcheon gets passed by Cannon there.
Then you're gonna see Charlie in front of her, and then Lala Turner, she's gonna hit this triple and go past Charlie right here into second place.
But the battle wasn't done yet as they all go there.
You can see Charlie go to the outside.
She's gonna slingshot square up and then get back to the outside of her, which is eventually gonna put her to the inside.
Lachlan gets stuck behind Nielsen right here, and then eventually Charlie Cannon, she's going like, "I need this position.
I need to make up some points."
She goes up the inside, so great pass by her running second in the points, but then it was a battle between one and two.
You got Charlie Cannon out front, but she makes a small mistake in this corner right here, which is gonna allow Lala Turner to get past her.
Charlie would actually get her back at one moment, but once she was able to get in this battle with there, and then you got Herrick, our rookie, going off.
Didn't have the best couple laps, but she was out there fighting.
Unfortunately for her, her bike ends up going out.
But it was the champ three motos in a row.
Yeah Lachlan Turner gets it done here, and we're about to see what she can do again in a few minutes.
Right now, it is the Women's Motocross Championship powered by Synchrony.
Huge growth in women's racing, really all women's sports around the world in the last couple of years, and that includes this, a full gate, which was not the case even as recently as a year ago at this track full of entries, and these female racers, very, very capable.
Lala Turner has two championships in a row.
She leads the championship going for a three-peat this year, and she won the first moto yesterday, the rider out of Nevada.
But Charlie Cannon out of Australia, her rival, and we are underway at Budds Creek.
Not a good start for either of the title contenders.
Lala's gonna try to sneak to the inside of the number one, but it's Mikayla Nielsen out of California up front.
Couple riders down and back up.
Yeah, we're used to this.
She was leading yesterday's moto for a little while there.
As you can see, Lachlan turning, Turner makes a pass on Charlie Cannon already.
Now, I want you to pay attention to the number one out here.
Watch her intensity these opening laps.
She really goes for it.
Probably has to be a little careful because it's a lot different than what it was yesterday.
But Lachlan Turner, as she already makes the pass around Mikayla Nielsen.
Now she, everybody else is gonna have to hold on and try to keep up with the number one because what she does in the opening laps, second to none.
Early race speed is what everybody's been trying to figure out.
So it's Turner to the lead over Nielsen and Cannon, who is second in the championship, the Australian third, but she wants second.
Looks like Charlie's gonna be able to get up the inside.
She'll be on the inside of Mikayla here.
She's gonna have to close that door.
She does.
Now we got the battle one and two in the points.
Now, so far this year, the second motos have been a lot better for Charlie.
She's been able to kind of close that gap.
Last weekend, we saw whatever time she lost in the beginning, she was able to kind of make it up, but she has to keep the number one, Lachlan Turner, in sights.
But the crowd comes to life for WMX action.
Can Cannon keep Turner in sight?
I love that I see dust on this racetrack.
If you go back a couple hours, if you would've saw this place, it was a monsoon, so shout out to the track crew for being able to do this.
Yeah, you're gonna see some mistakes probably from Charlie because she understands that she needs to keep Lachlan in sight these opening laps.
She feels like maybe she's a little stronger towards the end of the moto, but she, whatever time she loses, she's gonna have to gain that.
So she might be really charging this, these opening, which might cause a few mistakes.
She's been riding really good.
Unfortunately, she had a little bad luck last week, but she looks good in this moto.
And then you got the rookie, 17-year-old Maayla Herrick, who came out in her first race and won against all of them, crashed in the second one, and ever since then, she seems like she's trying to build her way back up but running solid in fourth place right now.
Yeah, had to wait till her 17th birthday, which took place at round three, and then won on that day in her pro debut.
But she's had some ups and downs.
Had a bike problem yesterday going down this hill.
The bike stopped running, so that meant a bad finish and a bad gate selection.
She still managed to get a decent start, and here's a battle with two of the veterans.
Hannah Hodges, who actually she's traveling with her one-and-a-half-year-old child just to drive up here from Florida to the races.
Never really had a chance to race pro, did Hodges, in her prime because this series did not exist.
Came back online a couple of years ago.
Great to see Hannah get a shot at racing professionally.
And then dealing with Jarvis.
Talk about racing all over the world, Jarvis been pulling double duty on a lot of weekends, racing in America on Saturday, Canada on Sunday.
But Hodges is gonna be tough.
She's been racing for a long time, like I said, not at the professional level.
Oh, who is that that is down here?
Is that That is- Nielsen that is Herrick on the 23.
Oh, Herrick.
They're teammates.
Gotta see the number to know which one.
So that was Herrick, who was in fourth.
Again, the 17-year-old rookie had the bike problems yesterday- Just trying to learn, I'd imagine, from those front runners.
Won't be able to see them now.
Here's the crash.
She's actually closing the gap on Nielson.
Okay, so, so she was behind and she just got off line a little bit, and you can see where they pushed all that mud up.
It did rain a lot, so they pushed it out to the outside.
Looks like Miele gets off line and she just runs into it, slows her momentum.
So simple fall, but costly.
Two positions.
The Women's Motocross Championship here runs through the number one of Lachlan "La La" Turner, the teenager out of Nevada, taking a big step toward winning this title for a third time if she can lock down this win.
Gonna be about a lap and a half to go here.
And she's opened the lead to 12 seconds.
Waiting on the number seven of Charlee Cannon, the Australian on the Quad Lock Honda.
And that is the second place rider.
There she is.
Both of all these ladies out here doing their thing, and what makes it even more difficult is that the track conditions, they ride on Friday, and normally on Saturday they're in between the motos of the, the men's class, so the track's night and day difference.
It's really rough.
But they're able to handle it and continue to do it and that's why I'm so impressed.
Pretty much every one of the riders here does ride full time at an established motocross training facility.
Turner at the Club MX facility in South Carolina, Cannon at the Millsaps training facility on the Florida-Georgia state line, Cairo, Georgia, and Nielson, as you mentioned, James, making the move from California, where she's from, to the Moto Sandbox in central Florida.
And that's just an opportunity for them to have tracks ready every day and ride all the time.
Ah, Turner's not gonna go for the big uphill trip on the last lap.
She did it nearly all the way through this race, pulled the big lead.
And moving toward the three-peat.
The championship will be handed out next weekend at Ironman Raceway outside of Indianapolis, Indiana.
Talk about somebody who's just been on it these Ever since we came back from the break she's got This'll be her fourth moto victory in a row after Charlee Cannon got her first over overall two races ago.
Lachlan has been on form coming out here, and you can really see it.
Looking really good and, as you just said, getting closer to that three-peat.
I can see how badly she wants to win this.
I was at the Club MX facility this week, Yamaha launching a new motorcycle, and she was in the gym learning all sorts of new things, trying to get stronger, trying to get better.
Even though she's winning, never stops improving and it pays off here.
Lachlan Turner dominates at Budds Creek to take a big win in Women's Motocross.
Points are very close in this championship, as mentioned.
McCutcheon, another Australian, then Nielson, who you just saw, and Jarvis, who had a rough weekend here with the bike problem yesterday.
You can see they're only three points apart.
And the championship hardware will be handed out next weekend.
