Islam Makhachev doubles down on desire to fight at White House
The UFC is set to stage a one-of-a-kind June event at the White House, drawing interest from multiple titleholders and contenders. Islam Makhachev (28-1) said he wants to compete at the White House to be “in history,” in comments to Arena Fight TV. The UFC White House event has also drawn public pushes from interim lightweight champion Justin Gaethje, while fan attention includes a possible Ilia Topuria matchup. Makhachev indicated he does not plan to move down after settling into his new weight class. Manager Ali Abdelaziz said Gaethje is next for the undisputed lightweight title, and Makhachev will defend his belt against a “real welterweight.”
