How Jared Goff Became the Engine of the Detroit Lions’ Offense

Discarded, doubted and defined by structure in Los Angeles, Jared Goff arrived in Detroit as a bridge quarterback. Four seasons later, the film and the numbers tell a different story: he's not just steering the Lions' rise — he's driving it.

Adam here.

I got, yet again, another article about my beloved quarterback, Jared Goff.

I've already done a few in the past.

I did his player ranking for the season.

I did a "Why is Jared Goff not the problem?"

article.

All those are on Roundtable Sports.

Check 'em out if you haven't.

They're great.

If you're a fan of Jared Goff, you will love those, and you will love this article as well.

This one is more of the growth of Jared Goff and the man that he's become, because when the Lions made that blockbuster trade in 2021, we sent out Matthew Stafford, a guy that we thought was gonna take us to the promised land, a guy that took us to the playoffs three years but just couldn't get over the hump.

And in the first year, we watched him win a Super Bowl.

So how did Jared Goff respond?

Well, pretty dang good.

He won the NFC North, the f- not the following two years, but t- back-to-back years for 2023, 2024; had a fifteen-win season; has posted four thousand-- over four thousand passing yards in three consecutive seasons, over thirty touchdowns in three consecutive seasons.

He has just been a monster for the Detroit Lions, and he has quickly went from a bridge quarterback, a guy that seemed like he could just be a Band-Aid, to a franchise man.

Yeah, I, I said it.

Jared Goff is our franchise quarterback.

He's gonna be here for the next few years.

He's just been playing some very good ball, and I know there's some knacks on him about the mobility and, you know, the I guess it's really just mobility.

If Goff was faster, he'd be so dang good.

But overall, Jared Goff can absolutely do enough to get the Lions to the Super Bowl and win the Super Bowl.

Goff has made a Super Bowl himself.

Yes, he had, you know, a great defense and elite weapons, but the Lions have elite weapons, and they have a great defense when healthy.

So Jared Goff, he's the man.

He's the man to stay, and we love him.
