Justin, I think it's hard to ever say that you leave Lawrenceburg feeling like you conquered it.
A year ago, things got completely flipped upside down for you and your season.
Do you feel like tonight you might be able to say that Lawrenceburg Speedway has been your friend?
No, Lawrenceburg Speedway's always been my friend.
We just had a little spat here last year, and, I've always loved this place.
I've, I've loved racing here since I was driving the 40 car and the, the 5 car for, you know, Ken Baldwin and Mark Harry back in the day.
And, I love Lawrenceburg.
I, I loved it the night I left in the ambulance.
This place is awesome, and it's, you know, it's a, it's a throttle smasher's delight around here.
And, well, Kyle in 3P, he made me work awfully hard for that one.
He was, I slid him.
I thought I was gonna ha- I didn't want him to know I was there, 'cause I knew he had more in the tank.
And, I thought I had enough to slide him and didn't get him cleared, and I'm like, "Oh, boy.
You just made your life a lot harder now," you know?
And, had to sit on the seat and, and man, j- I'm like out of breath.
I was f- that was as hard as I've run around this place, I think, ever.
Especially slick to big curb like that, it was We were, Kyle and I, I think, were both pretty bailed out there trying to win the race, and, that one felt really, really good to get done.
And can thank NOS Energy Drink, MPV Logistics, Hopp Industries, everybody that makes it possible for me to drive this thing.
Kevin Birchmeier, we, you know, wouldn't, wouldn't be, I wouldn't be nearly what I am without, without that man, and I appreciate all his support.
Jeff Walker, Nick Mansker, Tyson, River Cohn, my buddy Simon from Australia.
They let him back in the country, so he's back.
And, yeah, having a great time racing these guys.
I've been It's been a tough year.
Like, our results have been okay, but I've been just really unhappy in the race car, and just can't get comfortable.
And Maximum Chassis has been doing everything they can.
Dan over there's been doing everything he can to help me.
Eric at Stanton Motors, I've been wearing him out.
Matt, Matt Hummel at FK Indy, I've been wearing him out.
And, just, just hammering on everybody, trying to get, trying to get myself comfortable.
These guys are working hard, doing everything I ask them to do, and, and giving me all the, all the thoughts and ideas they can come up with as well.
And, felt like tonight we wanted, we wanted IMS, but I didn't really feel I felt like I did a good job, but I just didn't feel like the race car was in the track the way we wanted it to be.
And we made some changes, and, come here tonight, and it's, we got a bad fast NOS Energy Drink, Top Motorsports number four.
But again, thanks to Lauren Albano of NOS Energy Drink, Mike at MPV Express, Kevin, Top Industries, and all the guys that work on this, this NOS Energy Drink number four car.
My wife, Ashley, I was giving her a hard time earlier.
I said, "Well, you still only have 99 wins."
So now she's got 100 as well, so, but, super special to win my first one here.
Left somehow, I don't know, against all odds, won 100 more, and come back and, and win another one here at Lawrenceburg Speedway.
It's, super special.
Couldn't, couldn't do it with a better group of people, people that have been with me for a long time, and I just, I just really appreciate each and every one of them.
And I know I'm not always the greatest at hitting everybody up here.
My heart rate's going a million mile an hour when I get out of this thing, but, they're all, they're all very, very special, very important to me.
And, and all the friends and, and, and people that I don't thank up here nightly that, that help me on the back end as well.
You had a few looks at Kyle Cummins before that final stretch, and I think the most important thing was that you never let him get too far away from you.
Was that very last attempt absolutely all or nothing?
Oh, I was, I was pretty much all or nothing from the time the checkered flag dropped.
It was, it was hammering and yeah, but really trying not to let him get away from me in lap traffic, get stuck behind a lap car.
Especially I slid him right as we were getting to lap traffic and showed him, and, and, and then he was hammering and putting them away.
I mean, he did a really, really good job.
And I caught a few breaks with lap cars kind of peeling off after he went by him, and, and I was able to close back to him.
And so anything I caught wrong, I g- I got given it back when, when guys would peel down off the bottom, and then made a couple, couple big moves across the middle.
And fortunately, fortunately our race car, Jeff Walker, we've been working really hard on it, but finally stuck across the middle.
And I could throw bombs from, like, from, like, the next town over, and, it was, it was really, really fun.
They'd stick and, and stop me before I smashed into the curb.
And, just, yeah, I've, I've We've won a few races, and we've had, we've been running okay.
But, tonight's the first time I got out of the race car and thought, "Oh, that's, that's our race car.
We got it back."
And, so really, really happy for that.
Really thankful for all these guys' hard work, and, and all our partners that, not only support us financially, but the partners that, that support us, dealing with me.
