Kharun out-touches Dressel for 100m fly victory
Ilya Kharun got to the wall in 50.05 seconds, 0.40 seconds ahead of runner-up Caeleb Dressel to claim the national title in the 100m butterfly at the USA Swimming National Championships, his second in as many nights.

Unbelievable with these two guys right next to each other.
Six guys with their best times this morning.
The only two, Dressel and Haroun, but they're gonna be head and shoulders much faster than anybody else.
Dressel- Dressel will be out fast, yep.
I knew, that's exactly what you were gonna say.
He'll be there in lane four, Haroun right below him in lane number five.
The view from above, they're the top two as expected.
Ray in the mix in lane two, but it's Dressel by about a 10th and a half as they work their way towards the wall.
Dressel's looking really good, actually.
Great turn for him, but don't sleep on Haroun.
He knows how to get home, and there he goes.
Haroun coming on strong, looking to overtake Dressel and bag another national title here in Irvine, and he will do it.
50.05 seconds for Haroun, a lifetime best for him to beat Caeleb Dressel again 50.45.
And Rowan Cox from lane three, 50.54 for his first ever- You know, you know who might be the most impressive?
And I know we're talking about those two guys right there.
Haroun, Dressel, no doubt about it, but how about 18-year-old Rowan Cox going 50.6?
Well, the pools are united- Wow, next to each other, right side by side championship fight.
Dressel no doubt has that speed, but he's a little slower than he was this morning.
23.4 on the way out tonight, 23.3 this morning.
Good turn there.
I don't see anything different, and he's got that full body whip from chest to toes on that turn.
That ankle snap, you see out of both of them.
But Haroun, I mean, Jason, he attacks that water with such a committed entry from here on in, and he go, has that nice quick breath.
It doesn't disrupt his rhythm whatsoever.
A little shorter on the finish or he might've been under 50 point.
But Rowan Cox, I gotta give up another big props to Rowan Cox.
Yeah, and Dressel with his time, better than he's gone this season, fourth fastest in the world this year.
Haroun, fastest time in the world this year to take the title.

Ilya, what are you thinking at the turn, knowing that you had to make up some, some yardage?
I mean, I knew Dressel was gonna be always up there, but I knew that if I stuck with him, I could get him at the end.
You told me that you wanted to swim here.
You were so excited to swim here, to go up against the big dogs.
None bigger than Caeleb Dressel in the fly.
How does racing him push you?
I think it just gives me more experience.
You know, he's still, he's still the GOAT, but, you know, I'm just, I'm glad to be learning from him all the time in every race.
