And that was the finish of the men's 50 freestyle where Caeleb Dressel comes in strong, 21.35 for the win.
Obviously having a good meet, very happy about it.
Second place, Quinton McCarty, and third place, Nikita Sheremet of University of Louisville, 20.75 and 76 respectively.
It was a good race.
What do you think, Dax?
Yeah, good race.
He, you know, dominated from start to finish.
You know, definitely broke both of our predictions getting to that 21.3, which is good enough to be competitive right now.
It's a great place for him to be in the middle of his comeback.
We have friend of the show, Michael Andrew, bringing home sixth place.
Definitely getting under 22 is something to write home about.
You know, as we say, it is the worst best case scenario to be in.
But back to Dressel, great swim.
Exactly where you want to be in his situation on his comeback, on his revenge tour.
And shout out to Quinton McCarty, I really liked watching him swim.
I was peeping him.
A little bit long on the finish, but good swim right there.
Yeah.
And we talked about this on, you know, our show, The Night Swim Podcast, that is this the comeback for Caeleb or is he back?
You know?
And I think he's on the right path.
I, I'm not ready to say that he's back yet, but he's certainly headed down the right path.
I mean, we have the Australians right now who swam at Commonwealth Games.
They went one, two, three in the 50 with the leader, the world record holder, Cam McEvoy.
I think he went 20.9.
You know, it's, it's very competitive field right now.
Yeah, and, you know, Caeleb is kind of Even though he's, like you said, on the right path, in a little bit of hot water as well, you know?
These are kind of on the bubble swims, right?
His 100 free is fourth in the US right now, which makes him the fastest slow person on the relay.
We have his fly races where he finished second in both, which is, you know, those sprint events, you're one 1/100 of a second away from being on the Team USA to being at home watching with us from the from the, from the sofa.
So same thing for this 50 free.
21.3 is a great swim, but also it's a very bubble swim, and then we have the issue with him wearing Mizuno instead of wearing the brand that he has been hands-on in not only wearing, but creating, and then he's wearing another suit at this meet repping a different brand.
So a lot of controversy around Caeleb and his comeback tour.
Is he back?
Is he not back?
And things outside of swimming.
So, you know, hopefully all this can get sorted out and he can lock in on being on the right side of the bubble and not getting his bubble popped.
Yeah.
And you talk about that bubble, right now, who's nipping at his heels?
You have some really young cats coming up.
You know, Rowan Cox gave him a run for his money in the 100 fly.
So Caeleb, they just announced he's turning 30, and Rowan Cox is what?
A freshman.
