Merab Dvalishvili explains why he won’t wrestle Umar Nurmagomedov

Merab Dvalishvili said he will not take part in a friendly wrestling match with Umar Nurmagomedov, citing personal tensions and clarifying the limits of their rivalry. In remarks to Adam Zubayraev, Dvalishvili referenced their UFC history after his 2024 bantamweight title win over Sean O'Malley. He also noted the canceled RAF 8 bout versus Henry Cejudo and dismissed a grappling exhibition with Umar Nurmagomedov. Dvalishvili said wrestling matches are usually enjoyable but views this situation as different due to perceived disrespect. He emphasized that fighting in the Ultimate Fighting Championship is his job and he will face whoever is assigned. He added respect for Islam Makhachev and Khabib Nurmagomedov while stating the issue is strictly with Umar.
