Mets vs Guardians (8/5/26) | Mets Highlights

Brett Baty and Jorge Polanco opened the scoring with back-to-back solo home runs in the third inning. Carson Benge started the game with a great catch and added a home run of his own in the fifth. Jefry Yan made his MLB debut with an emphatic inning, striking out two batters. Down to their final out, the Mets tied the game in the ninth on an error by Brayan Rocchio. Bo Bichette then drove in the game-winning run with an RBI hit in the 10th inning.

Back goes Benge onto the warning track.

Right at the fence.

He makes the running catch.

Another phenomenal play by Carson Benge as he runs a mile.

Fly ball, deep left field.

Back goes Quan to the warning track.

At the wall, it's outta here.

Brett Beatty with an opposite field home run to put the Mets on the board first.

On an 0-2 pitch, Beatty goes the other way over that 19-foot fence in left field for his seventh home run of the year, and it's 1-0 New York.

That's driven to deep right field, and Polanco's got a home run.

That snaps the 0 for 26.

The Mets go back-to-back, and it's 2-0 New York.

Second home run of the season for Jorge Polanco, and he drilled it.

Benge slices one the other way.

Backhanded by Heynow, and his throw will be far too late, and it skips by Lowe and goes out of play, and that'll send Benge down to second.

What had been the best offense in baseball.

Young gr- lines one down the right field line.

That'll go to the corner and bring in a run, and Young pulls into second base with an RBI double.

So Jared Young's hit two balls hard.

Gets the payoff this time, and it's 3-0 New York.

And he lines one the other way for a base hit.

That'll bring in Adell.

He'll stop Lowe at third.

Travis d'Arnaud with an RBI single to get the Guardians on the board.

It's now 3-1.

And Lowe lines one into right field for a base hit.

Heynow is in.

Quan will score to tie the game.

Onto third goes DeLauder.

Nathaniel Lowe drives in a pair, and it's 3 to 3 in the fifth.

Benge drives one to deep right field.

Adell back at the wall, leaping.

What an incredible debut for Angel Heynow.

And he walks him, and the Mets have the tying run aboard.

And he lines one toward left field.

Onto third goes Young, and into second base goes Jorge Polanco.

Chopper toward the middle of the diamond.

Rocchio off his glove, and the tying run scores.

Oh, God.

I don't know if Rocchio was gonna be able to throw out Ewing had he handled it, but it went off his glove and popped up in the air.

Jared Young comes home, and it's 5 to 5 in the ninth.

And he punches one down the right field line.

That's a base hit, and the Mets will grab the lead in the 10th.

Bichette heads for second.

The throw by Adell, he may get him.

And he's out at second base.

And Duarte trying to seal it.

Young has the ground ball, and the Mets win an unlikely game from the Guardians.
