Mystics are 'fearless' heading into playoffs
Natalie Esquire and Terrika Foster-Brasby discuss the improvements that the Washington Mystics have made over the course of the season and what their unrelenting mindset means for their playoff chances.

Well, listen.
We gotta talk about them youngins over there.
They call themselves The Young H-O's.
But, listen.
Y'all play too much in Washington.
Look, they're having fun over there.
And, they're, you know I just, I'm so proud of Washington, you know?
Like, they're, they're the youngest team to make, you know, clinch the playoffs and, and make it in.
I think that's just really cool.
And now we, we know that Sony, Sonia Citron, and Kiki are both gonna be going over to Team USA.
Sony's gonna be filling in for Kelsey.
Yeah.
Kelsey.
So yeah, they both made the roster.
And, that's, I think, very cool, you know?
I mean, these girls are what can you say about how they have literally kept themselves, atop of everybody's mind from being all-stars to, you know, beating the Lynx, beating New York, beating V- like, they beat every team in the league that everyone at one point said, "This team looks good.
They could win a championship.
They could be unbeaten."
Minnesota said, "Hold my beer."
And then Shakira Austin, who is in the MIP conversation, who has been- Yeah such a threat to everyone.
Yeah.
I mean, she And talk about leadership.
Mm-hmm.
Sydney Johnson, right?
Yes.
Sydney, whatever- He's in the convo for Coach of the Year, too.
He, he absolutely is.
Whatever it is that he does and that he says that corrals these women.
One thing that he told me, we were, had a conversation with him about a month ago, and the one thing that he told me that always stuck out to me is that, you know, when I'm used to coaching young players, they usually linger on something way too long.
This group of young players, they don't linger on anything.
As soon as something happens, they move on to the next thing very quickly.
They don't let it rattle them.
That's good.
And you can see that the way that they bounce back against teams, the way that they come out to play with that same fire and intensity, no matter what happened the game before.
That is scary.
Yeah.
'Cause that makes you fearless, and I think that's one of the things that makes this Mystics team a bit fearless going into the postseason.
For sure.
Well, a reminder that the Mystics, okay, they only have one more game against a playoff team, and that's the Indiana Fever.
Mm-hmm.
But the rest of their games are against non-playoff teams.
But that game against Indiana- Mm-hmm that will decide the tiebreaker.
Yep.
And also, the last two games were both won by two points, so they split the first two matchups.
So Indy has one, Washington has one.
One of them went to overtime.
Both games only won by two points.
Two points.
So I think that's gonna be a good matchup.
Yep.
And so I'm looking forward to that.
But, like, look, they have nothing to lose.
Have fun.
They can still move up, you know?
They could move up, yeah.
Like So, like, just, just go win your games, and let the chips fall where they fall.
