Why are Fever, Mystics 'teams to avoid'?
The WNBA Showtime crew looks at the WNBA standing as playoffs near, debating which teams under the top three could come out strong.

So who would you want to avoid in four through eight?
Like, who is the team that you would absolutely not want to play?
Mm-hmm.
And here are our standings again.
We've already talked about Minnesota, Gold State, Las Vegas, and kinda that race.
But then there's that second set of teams there.
Who is it you'd wanna avoid?
From four to eight?
Yeah.
I mean Indiana.
Okay.
I think they're the best- Because they're- team of those, of those teams.
But I think when we start to, um- Ace, where- Yeah, when we start to talk about the Fever, like, they'll probably f- they could potentially finish higher than that.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So they're just a tough team to play against.
True.
Caitlin and Kelsey are playing out of their minds.
Some of the best basketball we've seen both of them play.
The duo, who do you guard?
Yeah.
It's so difficult.
So I'm definitely not trying to see them.

That, but I, I also have to throw in Washington, the Mystics.

They, they, they scare me with their size, their speed, their guard play.
And I, I look at Shakira Austin right now, and she's just balling.

I don't know that I wanna see New York in a series.

But the reason why I don't wanna see them is 'cause of the teams we just saw, not including Indiana.

I feel like they're in the top four.

We've got Atlanta.
We've got So Atlanta, a team that hasn't really had a lot of success in the playoffs.
Do they get that monkey off their back?
Like, do they figure that out or do they get mental?

New York, they've been there.
And now they've been They're, they're a team that has, I mean, speaking of being in the mud, oof.
Yeah.
They've had a rough season, but they get to the playoffs.
You've got Stewie and Sabrina, who have won a championship.
Mm-hmm.
And you have other, Jonquel Jones- Febish who has won championships.
And I'm like, "I don't wanna see that in a series."
Febish is the ish, correct?
Yeah.

They need that Febish.
Yeah.

I think she is- They know how to win really what they're missing.
Obviously, if they had Satu, it'd be a different story.
All right, our last pick your poison is a team outside of the top eight that could make a run, if there is one.
It could only be Portland, I feel like- Yeah mathematically.
Everybody, ev- everybody else is, is, you know, bellied up.
Well, there could be, but, but there could be a team that just kinda messes up everybody's end of season, too, right?
Like- Chicago to your point.
Like sh- that's a great one.

Like just gets hot.
Chicago could just be that irritant- Right just to mess up everybody.
And, and you thought you were gonna be counting that as a win on your way- Right to the playoffs.

But Chicago's like, "Not tonight."

I don't know that, I don't know that any of those teams underneath that line really are wanting to make the playoffs at this point.
And not, and not necessarily wanting to make the playoffs, but wanting to, like, ruin some other people's positions.
Yeah.
Or just- I think makes, makes- Yeah, all of them are gonna be ruining yeah, makes things- Right makes things interesting.
But in terms of, like, jumping up to that eighth spot- Yeah I think at this point- No, no you're gonna see these teams, you're gonna see them play hard.

You're gonna see them play hard.
You're gonna see them wanting to disrupt.

Like, "Hey, guy ..." And that, by the way, that is a conversation- You said that that happens in locker rooms.
Yeah.
Like, "Hey, guys, we can't make the playoffs, but that team's trying to get up to first place."
Yeah.
"Let's do this."
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
All right.
That's a conversation that happens.
But I don't know that they're, like, motivated and trying to get up to them.
Trying to, yeah.
'Cause Sue said it's a pretty good draft probably coming up, so you might wanna focus on that
