Letting someone walk would first and foremost indicate, just off the rip, that LSU was the assumed leader for Albert Simeon.
And over the last few months, that has been not, that has not been true at any single point.
How do I know that?
Because about six to eight weeks ago, I spoke to someone on the Simeon side that basically told me, eh, don't think he's gonna end up at LSU.
Why?
Why?
You want reasons, okay?
So don't take my word for it.
Here's the reasons.
One, although he's from Louisiana, he did not grow up in a pro-LSU household.
He did not grow up watching LSU football.
There was no allegiance to LSU.
There is a reason that he's been to Texas A&M like 10 times over the last couple years, and he has been there more than he's gone to LSU, the home state program that he grew up around, right, or a couple hours from.
There's a big reason for that.
And ultimately, and here's the biggest thing, Texas A&M and Notre Dame were both more attractive to him for several different reasons.
One, Texas A&M, Mike Elko, that staff did a great job.
Closer to home, nice selling point.
They have a lot of financial backing, all those types of things.
Cool.
On the Notre Dame side, it comes down to quite simply this.
Offensive line development matters.
Feeling of when you're on campus matters.
But ultimately, there was a lot of pro-Notre Dame feel on the side of Albert Simeon.
So to say that they let him walk is, first of all, just incorrect.
They didn't let him walk.
He chose to walk.
