I want to talk about today that I still consider, quote unquote, on the board for the Fighting Irish, and I feel good about the majority of them.
So let's talk about each of them, where things currently stand, and my prediction for where they ultimately choose when they make their college decision.
It feels pertinent to start with a player that is making a college decision on Friday, and that is five-star offensive lineman Albert Simeon.
He is out of Lake Charles, Sam Houston in Louisiana.
Very interesting recruitment.
He's going to be deciding between the Fighting Irish, between Texas A&M, LSU, Ole Miss, and Nebraska.
And many people over the last few months have been like, "Are you really going to be able to get a five-star kid out of Louisiana away from LSU?"
Well, if you've been tuning into this channel, make sure to subscribe while you're here, you know that I've been talking about that this is a Texas A&M-Notre Dame battle for quite a long time.
I mean, I think it's been like a month and a half, maybe two months, where that's been my stance on this.
I don't think he's going to end up at LSU, and I maintain that.
He is not going to commit to LSU.
He's not going to pick LSU this Friday.
It has always been a Notre Dame-Texas A&M battle.
It's going to be the Aggies.
It's going to be the Fighting Irish.
It's going to be one or the other.
He's going to end up at College Station.
He's going to end up in South Bend.
Those were the two options that have been on the table and the most likely outcomes for quite some time.
Now, heading into this decision, we're starting to see Steve Wiltfong, Sam Spiegelman, some of the folks over obviously at Rivals who do a really good job start to cast their expert predictions, and the odds-on betting favorite now is Notre Dame to land five-star Albert Simeon, which, again, if you've been listening to this channel, this has been my stance for about a week and a half now that I did think that this was going to be Notre Dame in the end.
I did.
Right before the official visit last weekend, I started feeling better and better about everything, just kind of with the dust settling, because at that point, I would have called it about a 50-50 tie between Notre Dame and Texas A&M.
Well, if it's a 50-50 tie right around going into an official visit to South Bend, Indiana, I am always going to give head coach Marcus Freeman, offensive line coach Joe Rudolph the benefit of the doubt to finish this one off, and I think they will.
I think Friday, barring something unforeseen, I do think that Notre Dame lands Albert Simeon.
We will see.
Recruiting is wild.
Things can change, but I feel really good about where the Fighting Irish are with this 6'4", 280-plus pound offensive lineman that I think could play just about any position he feels like playing on the offensive line.
He is very talented, and if you're able to land him and pair him with James Holter, Olu Olubolola, Richie Flanagan, Jackson Hill, that is a heck of an offensive line class for the Fighting Irish in 2027.
