The Phillies have swung yet another deal, and this one is for a lefty reliever.
Brooks Raley is coming over from the rival New York Mets in a NL East swap.
Raley is 38 years old, and he's in his ninth big league season, but he's enjoying one of the best years of his career.
In 45 appearances with the Mets, he has a 1.96 ERA, and he's held left-handed hitters to a .186 average and a .542 OPS.
He's not gonna blow you away with velocity, but that's not really his game.
Raley comes from a three-quarter arm slot, and he's been excellent at limiting hard contact, ranking in the top 6% of pitchers there.
And that's important for a Phillies bullpen that has been one of the worst in baseball since the beginning of June.
So far, the Phillies have added two arms in about half an hour.
That should tell you a lot.
