Phillies Connected to Potential Trade With Unthinkable Team

So we know the Phillies definitely need some bullpen help now that Brad Keller is out for the season with a torn UCL.
And to be quite frank, they needed help even before the season-ending injury to Keller because that bullpen has been very, very inconsistent outside of Johan Duran.
It's been very inconsistent all year.
Jose Alvarez has been having a miserable year.
Even Keller wasn't too great before the injury.
And, you know, we've seen this in previous years in Philadelphia, where they need to add some bullpen pieces at the trade deadline.
This year is no exception.
And actually now it's, it's more than a necessity.
It's a major need for this Phillies squad.
But the problem for Philadelphia is there may not be too many teams wanting to sell at the trade deadline because a lot of teams are still in playoff contention.
But Matt Gelb of The Athletic has identified one potential trade partner for Philadelphia, and it'll probably surprise you.
It, it will surely surprise you.
It's the New York Mets, and the Mets are one of the worst teams in baseball this year, so they will definitely be selling before August 3rd.
And Gelb specifically named two players for the Mets who could be options for Philadelphia over these next couple weeks, and those are relief pitchers AJ Minter and Brooks Raley.
Now, Raley has been with the Mets for four years now and has pitched very well for his entire tenure in New York.
Has a two point three two ERA throughout his time in Queens, and this year has an ERA of two point o two.
So he's been fantastic for the Mets this season.
His, you know, his strikeout numbers are a little down this year.
Strikeout to walk ratio is a little iffy, but for the most part, he's been very, very good in New York.
He eats the ball in the ballpark.
He's been a good pitcher.
Now, as for the other reliever in AJ Minter, spent most of his career in Atlanta, but he has been a great reliever throughout his entire career, three point one four ERA over ten seasons.
This year, has an ERA in the ones for the Mets in nineteen appearances.
So he's definitely a guy that the Phillies would love to add to their staff.
Now, the Mets, you know, probably wouldn't like the help the Phillies.
They may ask for a little bit more from Philadelphia than they would for other teams for these players.
But, you know, I can't imagine either costing too much.
They're both impending free agents.
Although, I will say that because, again, there aren't gonna be too many big-time relievers out there, the Mets are gonna have quite a sweepstakes for these two guys, and that could drive up the price for Philadelphia just organically.
