Phillies Should Avoid Rumored Offseason Target Like the Plague
The Philadelphia Phillies should absolutely not pursue this player during the MLB offseason.

So the Yankees acquired a couple of really interesting pieces at the trade deadline with Luis Garcia and Halio Ramos, but neither player really fits positionally with the Yankees.
So you wonder when everyone gets healthy, like Aaron Judge, Juan Carlos Stanton, Cody Bellinger, how they're going to find playing time for those two guys.
Now, Garcia, they'll probably get into the lineup somehow because his bat's very good, and, you know, he led the National League in slugging percentage when the Yankees acquired him, and he, he really hits righties incredibly well.
Now, Ramos is a bit of a different story because his bat, yeah, he hits lefties well, but his bat really isn't good enough to warrant putting him in the outfield because he's so bad defensively.
And, you know, let's be honest, Aaron Judge and Cody Bellinger own the corner outfield spots, and they're not putting Ramos in center field because he can't play center.
He's a really bad defender.
Now, he does hit lefties well, as I said, but Cody Bellinger hits lefties incredibly well.
So there's really no need to platoon him with Bellinger in left field.
So next year, will Ramos even be on the roster?
In fact, I feel like, you know, during the offseason, the Yankees could view him as a potential trade candidate.
He's under team control through twenty twenty-nine, still just twenty-six years old, and, you know, his bat's not horrible.
It's not great.
He has a seven sixteen OPS this season, lifetime seven thirty-three OPS, former first-round pick.
He, you know, he, he'll have value to somebody because he does hit lefties at an eight forty OPS clip throughout his career.
So somebody would definitely see him as valuable and might be able to give the Yankees a decent prospect for Ramos because, you know, Trent Grisham is probably gonna walk in the offseason, but they're, they're not gonna put Ramos in center field, and I don't think they put Bellinger in center field either because he's much better in left.
What they'll probably do is either put Spencer Jones in center field or go and find a better center fielder than Grisham, either via free agency or via trade.
And to me, I, I just find it hard to believe that both Garcia and Ramos will be on the roster next year.
I just don't think it fits positionally.
I think Ramos is the more likely one to be dealt in the offseason.
And bec- again, because of his age and the club control that he has, the Yankees might be able to get something decent in return for him.
