Phillies' Blockbuster Trade Rumor for One Particular Star Must Stop
The Philadelphia Phillies aren't making this trade, nor should they.

So Mike Trout is one name who has been connected to the Phillies quite a bit between now and the MLB trade deadline.
And given the Phillies need an outfielder desperately, with Dallas Garcia having a five ninety-nine OPS for being knocked out for the season with a shoulder injury, and Jayson Crawford struggling so much in center field, Trout does make sense from a fit and need perspective.
And he's had a resurgence year, seventeen home runs, has a three ninety-four on-base percentage.
He's been pretty solid offensively for the Angels this season.
But outside of that need, the need area, it doesn't make really any sense to the Phillies, and it's just, it's just not gonna happen for a couple of reasons.
Number one, Mike Trout has a no-trade clause, and he doesn't have any intention of leaving the Angels.
He, Everything that we've heard about Mike Trout is that he wants to finish his career in LA.
So if the Phillies even did try to acquire Mike Trout, he'd probably block the trade, even though he did grow up rooting for the Phillies when he grew up in South Jersey.
That's number one.
Number two, Mike Trout is a declining player, and he's on a very, very huge contract that runs through twenty thirty at thirty-seven point two million dollars per year.
I just can't see the Phillies with how their payroll has been monitored very heavily recently, and, you know, you, you have them-- you're paying Bryce Harper big money.
Trea Turner's on a big contract.
They just resigned Kyle Schwarber and J.T.
Realmuto.
Christopher Sanchez and Jess Luzardo just got extensions.
I don't think they're going to be okay with paying Mike Trout that money.
And this is a guy who's played a hundred games just twice in the last seven years.
And what do you know, he's on the IL right now with a hamstring injury.
He's been out since the middle of June.
So I don't think it's really a, a realistic possibility for the Phillies.
I'm not sure they'd even want it.
I think they're better off looking at cheaper alternatives who would stay healthy.
Now, Trout would make them better offensively for sure.
There's no question about it if he's healthy.
But the financial cost I think would just be too much for the Phillies to absorb.
