Of all the things to point to today, I just don't think you can place blame on Jess Rodriguez- No for missing that one play.
Because once again, the offense getting three hits just is not going to be good enough to win you a baseball game.
What's Hot is presented by Service Champions, and what was hot today was Adrian Houser.
You just heard Tony Vitello mention he thought he was outstanding today.
Looking at the numbers, six innings pitched, three hits, one earned run, one walk, three strikeouts.
What'd you see in the way that Houser was attacking today that was different in some of the starts where he struggled?
Well, I, I think, again, you see right here, he gives up the home to the Sheeds after the foul ball, like, I think it was the pitch before, two pitch before.
Yep, it was.
But tho- that ball was up in the zone- Mm-hmm and it was a strike over the plate.
You know, so he's very similar to me, like, like Molly.
If, if they're not overpowering guys- Mm-hmm so they have to be effective on the corners and off the black a little bit to, to get results, and that's what he did today.
Most, for the most part, he kept the ball down.
He was mixing in a, a, a, a four-seamer up in the zone to change eye level with hitters- Right which is what you need to do.
Mm-hmm.
But, you know, it, you know, it, it was a good outing.
I mean, six strong innings, 74 pitches, three K's, one walk, and he gave up a home run.
I mean, that, that's a quality outing right there that you would think would put your team in a decent position to win a ballgame.
Mm-hmm.
Houser, as you see the numbers up on your screen, really good in two starts against the Padres this season.
Unfortunately, nothing to show for it as the Giants fall short today.
