Yeah, five for 24 in the last two games with runners in scoring position, and one of those hits didn't score a run.
We saw it tonight- Yeah in a infield single.
so that's usually not gonna cut it, unless you get really good pitching, and Adrian Houser I thought was pretty good tonight.
Mm-hmm.
gave up two in the first, got hit hard in the first, really settled down.
Only gave up two hard-hit balls after that first inning, but they just aren't allowing him to go a third time through the lineup, obviously.
And, and the offense clawed back with two more runs, but it was three times the bases loaded, two times with one out.
Yep.
And those are the, those are the innings where, you know, when you do have bases loaded and two outs, y- obviously, y- you're hoping for a big hit- Yeah to score a couple runs, but when you have one out, you're expecting to score some runs there.
Mm-hmm.
Jonah Cox comes up the first time with bases loaded.
He strikes out on three fastballs right down the middle of the plate, and then Susac comes up with bases loaded in the fifth inning and pops up to, breaks his bat and pops up to, to second base, and they aren't- Mm-hmm able to get the big hit with two outs.
Most of the other times they had traffic on the bases came with two outs.
not to say that you can't get a hit with two outs- Mm-hmm but you really, really wanna capitalize when you have one out or less, and they weren't able to do that.
Unfortunately, Jonah Cox gets a triple on his next time up.
Yeah.
Had he had that triple with the bases loaded, we're talking a different game right now.
Giants maybe win this game.
Susac gets a single too in his th- in his fourth at bat, but gets out the, the So the timing of their hits was, was a little off.
Mm-hmm.
It was a inning late on both of those guys.
and I hate to single out those two guys, but those are two of the bigger at bats of the game.
Mm-hmm.
When you're able to get guys on base via the walk like they did, seven walks tonight for the Giants, which we haven't said a whole lot about the walks, 'cause I mean, they- Yeah haven't walked a whole lot on the year.
Matter of fact, they walked the least amount in the Major Leagues.
But to get seven walks, you're getting the traffic on the bases, but that's usually, that's not good enough unless, unless you're getting some crooked numbers in those innings, and they weren't able to do that tonight, once again.
And then the bullpen came in, and they walked five guys.
Oh, dear.
once again, they're having a tough time throwing strikes, and then the add-on runs.
There was three add-on runs, by the bullpen, and the Giants weren't able to get back in the game.
Yeah, those situations where the Giants have the bases loaded with one out, like you just need a productive out.
Like, just hit a fly ball into the outfield deep enough to drive a run in.

As Sean mentioned, three for 12 with runners in scoring position, and one of those didn't score a run with an infield single.

You mentioned some of the different, outs that happened after that fact with Jonah Cox striking out and Casey Schmitt popping up.
They loaded the bases again in the fifth with one out.
Loaded the bases in the seventh with two outs.
Late in the game, y- there's a little bit of pressure.
You kind of felt like maybe momentum was building, but ultimately they just can't get the right hit at the right time.
Yeah, you see the line drive by Casey Schmitt right there.
Hit the ball hard, just couldn't find a hole.
Ball hit hard by Kennedy here off the bat, line drive right at the center fielder.
You know, sometimes it's kind of the luck, right, of, of how things happen, but it's also, too, a little bit of an approach, you know, based on- Mm-hmm you know, who you're facing.
You know, you know, when, when you get, when you're walking seven guys as a team like the Nationals did tonight, not a ton of strike throwing.
Mm-hmm.
So you wanna be a little bit more patient, even with bases loaded, right?
Yeah.
With runners in scoring position.
You know, pick your spots, dog.
Obviously, ambush, but y- you have to be a little bit more patient.
You have to make the pitcher come over the plate.
Now, that wasn't the case with Jonah Cox at bat, 'cause the pitcher came right at him and, and, and he just swung and missed at, at, at two strikes, right?
but there was a couple first pitch outs in those situation where you'd like to see the Giants offense be a little bit more patient, have at least an approach of what you're trying to do.
you mentioned the bases loaded with one out.
You know, you're trying to hit a ball hard, okay?
Mm-hmm.
That, that, that's the bottom line in those situations.
But you wanna try to find a pitch that you can get up in the strike zone, that you can elevate.
It's what, worst, get the ball into the outfield and give- Right yourself a sac fly.
you can't come up empty in those situation.
It's just deflating for an offense, right?
You create no momentum when that happens.
It's like, okay, we're getting base runners, but we have nothing to show for it once again.
And then the starting pitcher has to go out there and continue to put up zeros.
Puts a lot of pressure on them as well.
And when you have a bullpen that's tired and struggling like they have been- you have to, you have to take it, you have to capitalize when you can offensively.
Mm-hmm.
Right?
You have to pick up your teammates in those situations.
So u- until they can finally start to get s- get it together and get their legs back under 'em again, the offense is gonna have to pick up the slack, because that's, that's been the one positive of this team- Mm-hmm as of late.
