Questionable Decisions The Cubs Continue to Make
Despite Craig Counsell's masterful handling of a decimated pitching staff, the Cubs manager continues to make questionable decisions.

And welcome back to Cubs Roundtable.
I'm Joey Polizzi, talking about all things Cubs.
And Manager Craig Counsell deserves a ton of credit for where the Cubs are at, at this point in the season.
Obviously, being 13 games above .500, with the amount of injuries the Cubs have dealt with, Counsell has done his best to get the boys ready to play.
And that is very true, because Counsell should be in the running for National League Manager of the Year.
And if the Cubs do finish strong, he could be a finalist for the award.
He's done a great job with the amount of different pitchers the Cubs have had to go through, a league leading 33.
Counsell has done a good job, but there are still some questionable decisions that Counsell has made that needs to be fixed moving forward.
The first is not giving Pedro Ramrez more consistent at bats.
Pedro Ramrez started on Saturday against the Twins, and that was his first start in almost one month.
That just can't happen if you're the Cubs.
Pedro Ramrez is here, he is here, should be getting more starts at DH over Michael Conforto.
And we all saw what Pedro Ramrez did over the weekend when he did get the opportunities, had a multi-hit game on Saturday, had a multi-hit game on Sunday.
He needs to see more opportunities moving forward, especially over Michael Conforto, who hasn't really showed a lot recently.
The second is not pushing Javier Assad to the side.
The Cubs, every time the Cubs get a starter back, they push Javier Assad to the t- to the side, whether that is pushing him down to the minors or pushing him to the bullpen.
Well, that has happened yet again, as Jameson Taillon is expected to be activated off the IL on Monday to start Monday's game against the Tigers.
Well, with Taillon back, the Cubs have decided to move Assad back to the bullpen, and that's honestly the wrong move.
Because Assad has a 2.80 ERA over his last seven starts and has been one of the most consistent Cubs starters this year.
He has a 3.64 ERA as a starter, and that is obviously much better than David Peterson, Colin Rea, and Jameson Taillon.
So not a right move from, from the Cubs here with moving Javier Assad back to the bullpen, but we'll see moving forward.
But I think Javier Assad definitely has done enough to prove that he deserves a spot in this rotation.
