Raiders HC Klint Kubiak Our Football Evaluation Plan

Video Transcript

During the first season game, how much time do you anticipate the starters to run?

Yeah, we do have a plan for those guys and how many, uh, you know, how many snaps or series we'd like to see them go.

Um, no need for everyone else to know it, but, uh, we're gonna have, we're gonna have a lot of guys play in this game.

We need to evaluate the whole roster.

How much are you planning to run Fernando tomorrow?

Um, running , or yeah, Thursday, yeah, how much run is he gonna get QB oh, just like how much is he gonna keep me running.

Um, he's gonna get plenty of experience in the game.

Look forward to, to seeing him out there with his, with his teammates.

Uh, a lot of, a lot of guys that we need to evaluate, but he'll get plenty of reps. What have you seen the biggest growth in him so far?

Um, you know, I just see he's continuing to grow, you know, it's, it's been a, it's been a really, uh, Impressive training camp as far as how he's prepared and then he goes out there to practice and, you know, things don't happen on, on the drawing, on the paper, and the playbook exactly how they do on the field.

So, um, I think he's done a good job of adjusting and um You know, with all of our players, we just, we just ask that as they gain experience and they make mistakes, they don't make the same mistake twice.

I think that, uh, he's done a good job of that and now it comes to live bullets, you know, with a live pass rush, and that'll be a whole another animal.

Do you anticipate, uh, his playing time on Thursday?

Do you anticipate some of that being with the starting offensive line or?

Um, Uh, it could happen that way, you know, we're gonna.

I, we, again, All the starters, you know, our starters are gonna play, so, uh, he could get some reps with a few of those guys, but I just don't wanna talk about how we're gonna play those guys.

Clint, when you have so many young players, how do you stress to them, this is your time to shine because as camp goes down, reps shrink.

Right.

Yeah, that's a, that's a really good point.

That's something that we stressed early in camp with the guys.

Like there's a lot of 3s on these practice scripts that doesn't stay that way forever, um, but, you know, honestly, I don't want them to make too big of a deal of it.

I want them to treat practice like the game because if, if we're coaching it the right way, then that's how it should feel.

Practice should be harder than the game.

Um, so I want them to trust their training and take their practice habits onto the game field.

So, sorry to keep harping on that.

We don't wanna talk specifically, but do you, is there, do you have a plan in mind of like this is how much they're gonna play, or is it, hey, let's see how they play, and then we'll, we'll kind of make a determination then?

Yes, we have a plan.

We have a plan in mind for how, how long the starters will play and, and how long the twos and threes will play.

Yes.
