I'm John Macaroon, Detroit Lions NSI.

When you look at Jamir Gibbs, clearly, he is going to be the focal point of the Lions' offense.

New offensive coordinator, Drew Petzing will definitely utilize the skill set of the Speedy running back, the running back that many believe is a potential Offensive Player of the Year candidate, potential league MVP candidate .

He is set to have a massive 2026 season.

But there is one potential roadblock that could be delaying a long-term lucrative contract extension.

It has nothing to do with gives the player, his health or his performance.

Another running back, B Jon Robinson, is also due for an extension.

So two players who are expected to earn well over $20 million may be playing the waiting game with their respective organizations.

If Jamir Gibbs signs first, then it is expected that Bjon Robinson may even top that contract.

You're hearing reports that the Lions are set to offer and extend.

Jamir Gibbs maybe in the neighborhood of north of $20 million maybe even a record-setting contract.

But if Jamir, if Jamir Gibbs signs too early, then he may be even leaving money on the table.

Maybe his representatives could advise him to wait until Bijon signs to potentially max out.

But, as we know, Jack Campbell signed an extension.

He did not, it did not matter too much to him.

To be the highest paid at his position, but for running back Jamir Gibbs, knowing the workload that he's about to face over the next 2-3 seasons, it may behoove him to wait just a little bit.

But it does not mean that the Lions are not gonna sign Jamir Gibbs, it just means it may take a little extra time.
