Seattle Mariners Make Major Pitching Change Ahead of Game Against Cleveland Guardians
The Mariners shifted their starting rotation and decided not to follow through with the planned piggyback outing with Logan Gilbert and Emerson Hancock on Saturday.

Hey everyone, Taryn Kovach here with Roundtable Sports for a Seattle Mariners update.
So the Mariners, added another wrinkle to their kind of, ongoing, ever-changing pitching plan on, Saturday ahead of game two of a three-game series against the Cleveland Guardians.
Logan Gilbert was set to start with Emerson Hancock piggybacking off of him in a continuation of, what the Mariners planned to be a rotation, in which every single starter on the team had a piggyback outing from now through the All-Star break.
instead, Gilbert will be getting the full start, and, Hancock will be starting in the series finale, on Sunday, and George Kirby will start in game one against the Angels back at home in Seattle on Monday.
The original plan was for, Gilbert and Hancock to piggyback today or Saturday with Kirby getting the, the nod in the finale on Sunday.
based on a couple different reports, from Adam Jude of The Seattle Times, the organization wanted to, not disrupt Gilbert's rhythm.
he currently has a sub two-five ERA this month in four starts, three straight quality starts, four quality starts in his last five.
also at least eight strikeouts in three of his last four outings.
but based on Ryan Divish's reports from The Seattle Times, Dan Wilson said that, they wanted to give, every single starter an extra day of rest.
with their schedule being what it is, they won't have a day off in between their final game against the Guardians and going back home to Seattle to play the Angels.
because of the World Cup, they'll play the first two games of the series Monday, Tuesday, have a day off Wednesday, and then, wrap up the series on Thursday.
the answer could very well be a mix of the two.
and, based on Divish's reporting, they do not plan on abandoning the piggyback thing entirely, at least not yet, so there's a very real chance that they'll just pick up right back after the day off with the plan.
but regardless of the situation, Gilbert will be getting the full outing, and he'll be getting it in game two, which is set to start at four ten PM Pacific on Saturday.
