So Carson Beck, number 43, kicks off the Sims Quarterback Countdown.
And number 42, Chris, we go to another rookie quarterback.
Yeah, we do.
We're gonna go Ty Simpson, Los Angeles Rams.
First round pick, of course, out of Alabama.
We know that.
We've talked at lengths about that.
An interesting situation.
I mean, listen, Ty Simpson's physical ability is every bit worthy of being on this list, and being that.
It's about experience.
We know that.
He's in the perfect spot.
He is.
He's in the perfect spot to learn and grow, and have a coach that can formulate and put him in the positions we talk about there, and do all that.
Now, what's interesting about it is they're a team, as we know, that's in the Super Bowl window.
Do they really wanna trust a guy that only played one year of college football to go, "Oh, Matt Stafford, he- that back thing flared up.
He's gonna miss two or three weeks.
We're gonna go with Ty Simpson"?
That'll be the big thing.
Now, they'll formulate a plan around him that'll, that'll help him.
We know that.
And the Rams are a good team, but that's the interesting conversation with Ty Simpson as compare As, as, as, as, as, like, with the Rams, and where he fits in there.
They got Stenson Bennett.
Yeah.
But I would think that, yeah, he leapfrogs Stenson Bennett right away, just on pure physical ability.
I mean, Ty, Ty Simpson can do some stuff.
We know that.
so we'll see where that goes.
I don't expect to see him on the field much this year, but I do think that, yeah, when we start playing this season, he will be the backup quarterback week one.
If Stafford did get hurt- Yeah do you think the Rams can remain a contender- Oof if Simpson had to play, or is it just too early?
I, I, I think they can.
I just, they're, they'd have to reinvent the wheel.
'Cause of how good the team is- Yeah and the coaching is They have a good team.
And, yeah.
And McVay'll,'ll formulate things the right way around it.
Now, you know, what happens here?
I don't, I You know, I'm still not sold that they might not get another veteran out there maybe, or something to protect themselves.
Rosters th- I mean, if you don't think Simpson's ready- Yeah and you don't have a lot of confidence in Stenson Bennett- I don't know what their confidence is l- yeah, that's the question.
We don't know where they're at with Stenson Bennett.
Right.
You know, he had a good, some good moments there two years ago, right?
Was that two years ago, when he came in late in the season and played?
And, you know, we know he can play.
He's a good decision maker.
He throws the ball, pretty damn good.
But again, he's not the long-term answer.
We know that.
And I don't even know if you really want him as your backup.
You probably want him as your third string.
But yeah, the Rams and how they kinda, figure out that situation as far as backup quarterback.
I'm gonna be interested to see where that goes here.
Jimmy G, I mean, we don't have any update- I know on him We don't know yet.
And we've just read that he's considering retirement.
Right.
That was a month ago.
Yep.
I would- I'm still holding hope that he could be there for them.
Yeah, and I wouldn't be shocked if he just is like, "I'm good on NFC East-" Because it'll either way "And I'll come back for camp."
Yeah, right.
Exactly.
I, I, I mean, knowing stories about Jimmy G- throughout the years, I could totally see that.
He's like, "Hey- He's enjoying himself now I'm just gonna enjoy LA.
I'm gonna go to the beach and okay, when it comes time, like, you know, early July, I'll start thinking about football and throwing the ball around a little bit."
Ty Simpson, number 42.
So we go rookie, rookie.
Rookie, rookie.
Number 41, not really a veteran- No by the way.
Well, actually, I wanna answer one quick question on Ty.
All right, cool.
Cool.
'Cause I did miss one from Gandalf the Great.
All right.
Does Ty have top 12 quarterback ceiling, in your opinion, Chris?
He does.
Really?
He does.
I don't know.
I know.
It's close- Yeah but I'm gonna say he does.
Top 12 is better than you think.
Top 12- That's where- Good.
Trust me You know.
You know.
You know.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I'm gonna say that yes, as I sit here right now, I think he has that potential.
I think he's got top 12 potential.
I do.
You know, the athlete, and I've seen enough high level throws to go, ooh, there's some pop in the arm.
But yeah, like we talked about during the process, the size, right?
The consistency in some of the throwing and all that, that's gotta get better.
But I do think the high-end talent, if all goes the right way, is enough there for him to be in that, that type of conversation, Gandalf the Gray
