Here we go.

Ram- I mean, come on, the Rams are one of the best teams in football.

Now, I know people think they might take a quarterback.

We're sitting here watching on TV, and they went to commercial break, and they showed Ty Simpson- Well, they have to do that to dangle him out there.

Yep.

To me, that would be crazy for a Super Bowl team, right?

To go, wait, the team is awesome.

It's one of the best teams in all of football.

They can add something to help them out here.

I think it's going to be a receiver.

That's what I would expect.

Yeah.

Because Davante Adams, up there in age, not as talented as people think anymore.

And if he gets hurt, it's like, wait, they can't throw to Puka Nacua every play.

So I'm expecting receiver here.

I'd be shocked if it's Ty Simpson.

They're showing him again.

TV loves the quarterback, but we're gonna We'll I'll see.

I What do you think with the Rams here?

If you're, if you're a quarterback and you attend the draft, expect to be under the camera until you get your name called.

Well, that's what Yeah.

And that's what's I've, I've been going pass catcher with this pick basically since they've had it.

Right.

Right.

And that, and that all kinds of ranges from Mekhi Lemon to Denzel Boston to Omar Cooper- Sure as we get the pick here.

I, I mean, look, it's gonna someone that can play and be ready.

Right.

And then as number three- And Lemon being from LA, I just figured that.

Here we go.

The Rams select Roger Goodell.

Ty Simpson was the pick.

Wow.

Wow.

Wow.

That's why he's there.

He knew it.

Yeah, right.

Unbelievable.

We should've known when he- Big Phil decided to go to the draft Well, a lot of quarterbacks don't always know, so.

But still, this is I, I am shocked.

I really am.

And that tells you that they think that Matthew Stafford, one year- Right maybe two at the most, and then they're gonna transition to Ty Simpson.

This is one of the biggest shocks of the draft.

I think it's the second-biggest shock- Easily other than Cardale Tate.

Easily.

Right?

I didn't think he was gonna go in the first round- I- unless someone traded back in for him.

No.

A stick and pick in the top 15.

For a Rams team, we say it all the time, Chris, it's all about winning the Super Bowl.

Yeah.

This isn't Unless Matthew Stafford gets hurt, this isn't a pick that's helping you win a Super Bowl.

It's all about the long-term future.

Well, I think that just tells you McVay's gonna be there for a long, long time.

Right.

And then, yeah.

They're, they're not gonna With Jimmy Garoppolo maybe retiring, too, Ty Simpson, pretty mature kid.

Yes, he hasn't played a ton of football.

That would be the other thing that concerns me.

Again, we get back to the conversation here of, all right, a little undersized, which I don't love, and then we get into hasn't had a lot of experience, and now he's not gonna get any more experience sitting behind, Matthew Stafford.

Matthew Stafford.

Although- And so that's- Yeah that's what you worry about.

But he is gonna get coached by Sean McVay.

And I will say, Big Phil earlier today, sitting here right off camera, he goes, "Man, Ty Simpson really would fit the Rams offense."

I was gonna ask- Yeah schematically, you like this?

Yeah.

I, de- definitely.

I mean, he's, he's capable, first off, of making power throws down the field.

We know the Rams, with all the 10 and 15 and 20 yard crossers.

I think he's phenomenal in that area.

And then they do protect well up front.

Right.

Play action pass, get him deep behind the line of scrimmage, and he's an athlete who can move, and- Sure we love that aspect about him.

Right.

Yeah.

I just thought the NFL would be scared of the size and the experience.

But McVay is basically telling you, we're gonna get him all the experience he needs being the backup for Stafford, and we'll get him ready to go when it's time to play.

big time shock here for Ty Simpson.

And the Rams are on a little bit of a heater, where I don't think they're afraid of going against consensus.

Yeah, right.

And you know what?

I think the other thing, too, let's give Matt Casey a little love.

Matt Casey produces and directs shows a lot.

He thought it was real fishy that they cut to Si- Ty Simpson before they went to the commercial break.

He said, "I don't know, that sounds like they know something."

So he called it.

either way, though, Ty Simpson, second quarterback off the board.

And a- again, I know I've been a little down on him as far as I don't think he's a first-round pick, but he had times during the college football season where you heard me say a lot like, "Oh my gosh, Ty Simpson's the Heisman winner right now."

And he took a beating, and that was because they couldn't run and play defense- Yeah and do that.

And they put a lot on his shoulders.

So hopefully that's not an issue in the NFL, but he does have some big time talent.

And, the Rams obviously saw that.
