Cowboys monitor Raiders' Maxx Crosby trade status. Could a high-motor pass-rusher returning home drastically reshape Dallas' defense?

No, no, we're not going to do a Max Crosby should be traded to Dallas show every single time the spirit moves us.
We need facts, fact-based opinions, and we've got them.

Let's review the latest on Max Crosby, a Cowboy fan's dream.
And by the way, in talking to people inside the star, yes, on paper, they share your dream.
Five-time Pro Bowler Max Crosby.
A year ago, he signs a new three-year $106 million deal with the Raiders.
Average annual salary of $35.5 million, kind of.
Now he wants out.
And if you remember the end of the season, when we started really stirring this thing up for a second time.
First time was at the trade deadline when the Cowboys called the Raiders.
I know they did.
And at least touched base.
And the Raiders said no.
And it didn't go anywhere.
Then we get to the end of the season.
And the Raiders tell Max, your knee hurts.
We're going to organically tank.
And he says, no, my knee's fine.
Watch me.
I'm going to dunk basketballs on a trampoline.
But nevertheless, they put him in mothballs for the last couple games of the year.
He didn't like it then.
He doesn't like it now.
This comes from Jay Glazer, by the way.
Trusted Fox Sports guy who is very connected.
They're friends, Max Crosby.
It's also worth noting, as we chase this thing down in the coming 10 weeks.
And I'll tell you why it's 10 weeks in a moment.
Jay Glazer also has a really good relationship with Stephen Jones.
Like friends.
So just tuck that in your back pocket as we plow forward.
The market goes from Max to Micah.
Micah takes a nap on the sideline as he plots his escape from Dallas.
Gets $186 million with the Packers.
Good for him.
$47 million a year.

So here comes Glazer saying, yep, Crosby's about done there.
He's not making this up.
I don't even know if he has to say sources.
We all know where he's getting that from.
He's getting it straight from Max Crosby.
Tension's still boiling.
Lowly Las Vegas getting ready for another rebuild.
He's not interested in that.
And he's still miffed about the mothballs.
What would it cost?
What kind of haul do the Raiders get?
Glazer quote, probably more than Micah.
Diddly diddly dink.

What does that mean?
Well, you know, you remember the original return on Micah Parsons, the trade to Green Bay.
The Cowboys come out of that thing okay, actually.
It's disastrous because the original plan was to keep Micah Parsons, and he nodded his head to $40 million a year.
You can't say now, oh, this plan's better when everybody was in love with that plan.
But you got Clark and you got two firsts.
Kenny Clark and two firsts.
And then, of course, came the trade deadline thing.
You called on Max Crosby.
You called on Trey Hendrickson.
But when you called the Jets on Quinn Williams, they said yes.
So those pieces have all been shuffled around the board a little bit.
Glazer said it's Max's decision.
And he was like, I'm not going through another rebuild.
That sounds like something Max told Glazer.
Las Vegas has the number one pick in the upcoming draft.
So they can fix this thing.
But it's still going to be a rebuild.
They can draft Fernando Mendoza and start over at quarterback.
And if he's good, I don't know.
They got a fine young running back.
They got a super stud at tight end.
They can start getting not bad.
What does a massive haul mean?
Would the Cowboys do it?
I've heard people say the Cowboys are more than one player away.
Yeah.
But I got to start with one player.
My defense needs three or whatever.
Well, it starts with one.
Glazer mentions a draft day trade.
I want to make this clear what that means.
I'm seeing some media people say, I'd like the Cowboys to trade for Max Crosby, but after the draft.
Well, why would the Raiders do that?
They want a payoff.
You think they want your 2029 first round pick?
No.
The Raiders, if they're going to do this, if they're really going to do it, and they're committed to it and Max is committed to it, they do it in the next 10 weeks.
They do it before the draft.

In the final three years of the deal, and what is he, 27?
It averages $28 million per year.
That's tremendous.
He might, once he gets traded, want a new deal.
That's a story for another day.

If you trade Crosby, it'll be two firsts and a good player.
That's the Micah Hall.
That's the price.

Until they're not.
That's exactly right.
I remind you, the New England Patriots are in the Super Bowl.
They went 4-13 and 4-13 in back-to-back years before they turned things around.
They didn't do it with one player, but they did it one player by one by one by one.
So Crosby's deal has no dead money attached to it after this year.
So you could cut him.
I wouldn't.
But the point is, you're not married to him forever.
You're not married to the $106 million deal if you don't want to be.
So here's the three new wrinkles that serve as food for thought.

The three new wrinkles.
One, Max Crosby is serious about wanting to escape Vegas.
That's clear.
This isn't a negotiating tactic.
He's not trying to get more money from the Raiders.
He's not pretending he's upset.
He's upset.
Two, this figures to all happen quite possibly in the next 10 weeks.
As Glazer's mentioning draft day as a deadline of sorts.
Again, you can do it afterwards.
You could do it anytime you wanted to.
They can do it anytime they wanted to.
But if they want a payoff, they want to do it in advance of this draft.
They want your pick now.
They want a couple of your picks now.
And that takes us to wrinkle three.
The Micah-like haul.
Now, and I like Jay Glazer.
I know him a little bit.
He's no water carrier, but he's friends with Max.
So I don't know if a team told him or the Raiders told him, hey, it's going to take two first-round picks and a player because that's what it was for Micah.
Or if that's Glazer building up Max's value.
Or if that's Glazer professional opinion with some bias because he likes Max.
Is Max Crosby more valuable than Micah Parsons?
As valuable as Micah Parsons.
The Micah Parsons haul means Dallas would have to give up, Dallas or any other team, give up a player, Kenny Clark-level player, and two first-round picks.
I'm not giving up 12.
But in theory, based on the Micah haul, I'm giving up pick number 20.
And then I'm giving up my other first-rounder in 2027.
And remember, while on paper the Cowboys had two first-rounders next year, they've committed one of them to the Jets for Quinnen.
So if they did this, they'd still have 12.
They give away 20 this year.
They give away a first-round pick next year and a player.
They would have no first-round pick in 2027, which they do not like.
But that's what it would be.
You're giving the higher of the two in 2027 to the Jets in the Quinnen trade.
So Glazer's guesstimation here is two firsts and a player.
Pick number 20.
And it'll be the Packers.
No, not necessarily.
You don't know what it would be in 2027.
Let's put it in the middle of the pack for now.
So let's make it 20.
So it'll be the 20th overall pick this year.
And somewhere around you hope you're good enough for it to be the 20th overall pick in 2027 and a player.
That's what's on the table.
That's what's at stake.
Now, kick it around in your own head.
Long way to go here.
Ten weeks is a long time.
But if the Raiders are serious about gaining capital and if Max is serious about cutting ties, I promise you the Cowboys will be one of the teams picking up the phone.
And then I hope for your sake they do their best to avoid having to give up a Micah Hall-sized price.
