Tommy Pham’s White Sox Tenure Takes Unexpected Turn
After receiving just one at-bat with the White Sox, Tommy Pham has landed on the injured list in a surprising roster move that brings Edgar Quero back to Chicago.

The Chicago White Sox made a roster move before Sunday night's game against the Minnesota Twins, and it's a bit of a surprising turn, an unexpected turn to the Tommy Pham saga.
Pham has been placed on the 10-day injured list with a left calf strain, while catcher Edgar Caro is called up to rejoin the White Sox.
And this IL stint for Pham comes after one at-bat with the White Sox.
He didn't even play the field in a game.
He just took one at-bat in the ba-- the ninth inning back on September 2nd against the Houston Astros and now goes on the IL.
So a lot of attention, a lot of controversy, a lot of just conversation about the Tommy Pham acquisition.
He talked himself about trying to prove people wrong and find his way onto the playoff roster.
In one at-bat, he's on the 10-day IL.
Caro comes up from Triple-A Charlotte, interestingly enough, right after the White Sox just optioned Drew Romo with Kyle Teal returning off the IL.
So now three catchers on the active roster in Teal, Jake Rogers, and Edgar Caro, while Drew Romo and Joey Bart stay with the team.
Bart's on the IL.
Romo is on the taxi squad.
So five catchers are hanging out with this White Sox team right now as they close out the final 20 games of the regular season.
Caro hasn't been anything to write home about, but he has found some level of consistency in Charlotte, with a hit in six of his last seven games, four walks.
That's earned him another MLB opportunity, and he's looking to continue what he was doing earlier in August.
Over the final seven games, in MLB before being optioned, Caro was batting .391 with a 1.003 OPS.
More confident at the plate, better feel for what pitchers were trying to do.
But still, the White Sox sent him to the minor leagues, viewing Romo as the better defensive option and the more palatable game caller.
Ultimately, the hope is that Kyle Teal figures things out here now that he's off the IL.

Teal was the everyday guy.
Interested in seeing how Will Venable and the White Sox use Edgar Caro, if at all, now that he's back with the team.
But it is a fascinating transaction, both for Caro and for Pham, who now looks to be on the outside looking in for a playoff roster, and one at-bat in on the IL with the White Sox.
