Twice-DFAed Pitcher Surrenders Seven Runs in Awful Seventh Inning of Cardinals Loss
Jared Shuster, who has already been designated for assignment twice this season, surrendered seven runs in the seventh inning of a 10-2 Brewers drubbing of the Cardinals at Busch Stadium on Tuesday night. Milwaukee swept both games of the doubleheader, and it has won six straight against the Cards.

Cardinal players love playing for Ollie Marmal because he's a man of his word, and he always does what's best for their health and keeps them out of bad situations.
But let's be honest, Tuesday night at Busch Stadium was an ugly, ugly, bad look for the Cardinals.
The Cardinals pushed Michael McGreevy back his start back a day, which pushes Andre Palante's start back a day.
They tried to stay away from George Soriano and Jojo Romero because those relievers have been taxed lately, and they're trying to give them another day of rest.
but the Cardinals were swept in two games by the Brewers in two winnable games.
The Cardinals pitched Bruce Zimmerman in game one for five innings.
He gave up three runs, and then they promptly designated him for assignment right after the game.
And in game two, they pitched Jared Schuster, a pitcher that they've already designated for assignment twice this season, and a third one is probably coming real soon.
Schuster allowed seven runs in the seventh inning, and the Cardinals had to go to position player Brian Torres to close out the game.
He actually threw two scoreless innings at the end of the game, but this was an ugly night.
It-- You know, you, you could see this in, in a series that maybe you're facing a lesser team or the game's already a blowout.
The-these were two winnable games, and the Cardinals lost them both.
They've now lost six of-- six straight meetings against the Brewers.
They won the opener and have lost the last six in a row.
they've lost all three of this series.
They were swept in the doubleheader on Tuesday night.
So the Cardinals are now double digits back from the Brewers, so any hope they had of winning the division is, i-is clearly over.
That was probably a long shot to begin with.
But, you know, I, I do give Ol-Ollie Marmal a lot of credit for protecting the health of his players.
Like, nobody wants to see an injury to Michael McGreevy.
Nobody wants to see an injury to Andre Palante.
Jojo Romero has been, you know, has, has been great for this franchise the last three years.
the Cardinals are obviously gonna try to trade him before the deadline with him being a pending free agent.
so they're trying to keep those guys healthy, but it came at a bad look.
It, it, it led to a bad look on Tuesday night at Busch Stadium.
Those were two ugly losses.
you know, the Cardinals lost four to three on Monday night.
They were up three-nothing.
They gave up four runs in, in the seventh inning.
Ryan Fernandez was, was, was optioned to Memphis the next day.
like I said, you know, Zimmerman gave up the three runs, was DFA'd right after the game.
Schuster gave up seven tonight in the last game, so he'll probably be designated soon.
So, you know, yes, the Cardinals protected, protected their main h- people, protected their health.
there, there's a reason why the, you know, the last Cardinal pitcher with an arm injury before Max Regick went down was September of twenty twenty-four.
They value the health of the-- their top-line pitchers, and they've done that once again.
But man, that was, that was a tough That was tough to watch at Busch Stadium tonight because, pitchers who probably didn't belong in the Major League were pitching against the Milwaukee Brewers in very winnable games.
So tough luck.

tomorrow night, Michael McGreevy will pitch.
On Thursday, Andre Palante will pitch in the final two games against the Brewers, and then they'll close out the first half of the season against the Braves.
