Jay, last year was year one for Ben Johnson as the Chicago Bears head coach.
It was a resounding success.
They won the NFC North for the first time since 2018.
We saw the things about Caleb Williams that really made people so excited about him being a franchise changer coming out of college.
But their defense was suspect, and it still feels like they haven't added enough to make it not suspect.
On top of that, this season they have one of the hardest schedules in the NFL.
A lotta team This team has a lot of hype, a lot of expectation in year two of Ben Johnson's tenure.
What do you expect, re- regression for the Bears?
Yeah.
Hurts me, Trista, but I'm gonna take the under.
And it hurts me because I do think that Ben Johnson is one of the outlier top coaches in the NFL, and I don't like going against him.
But there are so many red flags about this team's profile from last season, where they were one of the luckiest teams in recent memory in the NFL when you look at the fact that they had one of the five easiest schedules in the league.
They had four one-score wins against backup quarterbacks.
They were pretty healthy overall.
They were number one in the NFL in terms of net turnover differential.
So just all of these stats that you look at for what teams typically regress from, and the Bears just lighting up all over the place.
I do think the defense, to your point, is going to be, an issue.
I think it could get better just because it's not that hard for a defense to just luck its way into slightly below average, which I think the Bears have scope to end up with, under Dennis Allen.
But I think the offense for the Bears to go over to be a 10-win team to win the division, I think the offense is gonna have to be absolutely all world.
And it could be, 'cause it's Ben Johnson, it's a ton of talent, but I still got enough question marks over Caleb Williams, over his accuracy, over how long he holds the ball.
So I think that ultimately this is going to be a good team, but I think it's more of a nine and eight good team that, makes the playoffs as a wildcard.
