Former Packers backup quarterback Malik Willis entered free agency as one of the most fascinating names in the fold, Kyle Devorchak.
He had long been connected to the Miami Dolphins, but we were unclear what they were gonna do at the quarterback position.
Tua Tagovailoa was still there.
Massive cap hit.
They can't even save any money by getting rid of him.
They did get rid of him.
They've now added Malik Willis, a three-year deal, near $70 million.
Malik is gonna be the starter in 2026.
Beyond, we do not know.
What do we think of the move in fantasy football with a dual-threat quarterback headed to South Beach?
Yeah, to your point about the contract, they also fully guaranteed the first two years of his deal, so it is a very legitimate buy-in from a team that seems to be trying to recreate a bit of a Green Bay South, obviously headlined by the new head coach, Jeff Hafley, the former defensive coordinator of the Packers.
And I think for the offense, they're probably going to also try and recreate what Malik Willis had with the Packers, which was extremely efficient, also extremely low volume, setting him up to be in the best positions possible to pass the football, but that was also something that kind of happened rather scarcely when he was the starter.
That's what we're gonna see in Miami as well.
It's not the best setup for fantasy in terms of being such a low volume passing attack, but neither was the passing attack that Miami trotted out last year, especially after they pulled the plug on Tua.
So I still think what we're getting 2025 compared to 2026 is a clear upgrade for this offense.
Do I think Malik Willis can really push for QB one numbers or the same of Jaylen Waddle at wide receiver one numbers?
No, they're probably both saddled in that top 24 range for 2026.
Malik Willis still could be a top 12 quarterback if the rushing is good enough, if the play design is good enough.
