Fifth Grade

In 5th grade, your child will learn many exciting things across all their subjects! In Math, they'll become data detectives, figuring out information from charts and graphs. They'll also learn about different kinds of numbers, how to solve problems with big numbers and decimals, and work with fractions. Plus, they'll explore shapes, measurements, and even try to figure out how likely things are to happen.

For Language Arts, your child will become a super reader and writer! They'll learn to ask questions about what they read, understand different kinds of stories like realistic fiction and poems, and write amazing essays that share information, opinions, or even tell a story. They'll also get better at reading smoothly and clearly, and have great discussions with their classmates. In Social Studies, they'll become global explorers! They'll learn about being a good citizen and discover different cultures around the world. We'll travel back in time to learn about ancient civilizations like those in the Fertile Crescent, China, India, or Mesoamerica, and then either Ancient Greece or Rome, and also explore history in Africa or Southwest Asia. They'll even work on a fun project about technology and cultures. In Science, your child will become a scientist! They'll do hands-on experiments, learn about how things work in the world, use technology to explore, and even learn about different jobs scientists do.
