Fourth Grade

This year, your child will have an exciting time learning in Math, Reading, Science, and Social Studies!In math, they'll become data detectives, learning to use graphs and understand chance. They'll work with big numbers(up to a million!) for adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing. Your child will also learn about fractions and decimals, how to measure things (like length and weight), and explore shapes and linesin geometry.

In Reading, your child will become a super reader and writer! They'll read many different kinds of stories and articles, learning to find the main idea and understand what authors want them to know. They'll also practice writing stories, opinions, and reports. In Science, we'll explore our local environment, Virginia, and even our solar system, finding out how living things work together. They'll learn how to ask questions, do experiments, and solve problems like real scientists! In Social Studies, we'll travel through Virginia's past, from being a good citizen to learning about Native Americans, Jamestown, the American Revolution, and even the Civil War, all the way to today.
