2021年JR西日本越美北線の普通列車と特急「サンダーバード」を乗り継いで能登方面へ。
越前大野駅から越美北線の普通列車に乗る。車両は前日と同じキハ120形気動車の体質改善（リニューアル）車。
この日は晴れていたことから、前日とは違って車窓からの景色が綺麗に見えた。
終点の福井駅では、通常越美北線の列車が発着する2番線には別の列車が停車中だったため、列車は3番線に到着した。
反対側の4番線には、521系電車による北陸本線の敦賀行き普通列車が停車中だった。
福井駅で521系電車と並ぶキハ120形気動車
福井駅からは、1日に1本しか運行されていない和倉温泉行きの「サンダーバード」へ乗り換え。車両は吹田総合車両所京都支所（近キト）所属の683系電車の体質改善（リニューアル）車。12両編成での運行で、大阪方6両は金沢駅で切り離され、和倉温泉方6両が和倉温泉駅まで運行される。

福井駅～芦原温泉駅間は今回が初乗車。今回の乗車で、僕は北陸本線の、2015（平成27）年にIRいしかわ鉄道線・あいの風とやま鉄道線・えちごトキめき鉄道日本海ひすいラインとなった区間を含めた米原駅～直江津駅間全線を制覇した。
今回の乗車区間は羽咋駅まで。2015（平成27）年の北陸新幹線金沢駅延伸開業後は金沢行きが大半を占めるようになった「サンダーバード」だけに、金沢駅よりも遠くへ行ける列車に乗れたことに、僕は少しばかりの優越感に浸れたような気分になれた。
On November 25th, the third day of the travel in Hokuriku, I travelled from Echizen-ono Station to Hakui Station with a local train on Etsumi-hoku Line and "Thunderbird" limited express.
At first, I travelled on Etsumi-hoku Line to Fukui Station. The carriage was Kiha 120 Series, too. On that day, I could see the view over the train window because it was fine.
At Fukui Station, I could photograph Kiha 120 Series and 521 Series on Hokuriku Main Line at the neighbour track.
There, I transferred to "Thunderbird" for Wakura-onsen [Wakura Hot Springs] Station. Though many "Thunderbird" serve between Osaka Station and Kanazawa Station, one service does to Wakura-onsen [Wakura Hot Springs] Station.
The train consisted of 12 carriages. The train uncoupled the last six carriages at Kanazawa Station. The first six only went to the terminal.
I travelled from Fukui Station and Hakui Station. This travel gave me the achievement to travel on all sections of Hokuriku Main Line.
In a few minutes after passing at Tsubata Station, where the railway toward Wakura-onsen [Wakura Hot Springs] (JR West Nanao Line) branches off from that toward Toyama (IR Ishikawa Railway Line), the train passed a partially-unelectrified section. But the lights on the train didn't black out, unlike the old ones.
While travelling, I felt a sense of superiority because I could travel farther than Kanazawa Station without train transfer.
