Full Circle/ Hiromi Iwasaki

Oceano/ジャヴァン
スティーヴィー・ワンダーと共演した「SAMURAI」を含むアルバム「Luz」で1982年に世界的にブレイクしたジャヴァンがブラジルに帰国後リリース。このアルバムで特に好きな曲は、大学時代にポルトガル語を覚えて最初にコピーした「Aviao(飛行機)」。元々Ana Caramのカバーバージョンで練習したこの曲は誰が原曲を歌っているのか、とベスト盤を入手し、そのCDの1曲目の「SAMURAI」ですっかりはまってしまいました。ジャヴァンを知っただけでもポルトガル語を取った甲斐があった、と思ったものです。「Cigano（ジプシー）」（この作品と「ベスト・コレクション」収録）を聴くと感じますが、「我が道を行く潔さとそれを裏付ける強さ」が歌ににじみ出ている人のようです。同じ理由で小谷美紗子や、常に「いいものはいい」という姿勢のSING LIKE TALKINGも好きになったのかもしれません。「ADLIB」2006年11月号に、最新作「ナ・ピスタ」の国内盤リリースの記事が載っていました。せっかくだからこの際日本に来てほしいです―ジャヴァンのライブに行くのが私のささやかな夢の一つですから。1995年05月17日 850083 Sony Brazil

What are the off-parties for?
"Off-party reports" are invited to carry in Chikuzen's weblog. But according to the e-mail from one of the people (I'm calling her "Organizer") who joined off-party on 14th Oct.-Four days after our party, one of the members(I'm calling her "Clerk") suddenly e-mailed Organizer and told that she wouldn't come to off-parties anymore, and even closed her weblog.At first, she was supposed to write "off-party report" to post to Chikuzen's weblog.But at that time, the situation around her was changing drastically, and besides, she had a cold.Writing a report under such a situation might have been a big pressure for Clerk- Organizer guessed.So the report was not send to Chikuzen's weblog.I don't mind about that. Just reading other members' articles is fun, and I also posted mine.However, there is one thing I'm concerned since then-Thanks to Chikuzen's weblog, many fans have chances to meet each other more than before.He invites reports from fans so that more opportunities and pleasure are brought to us.But off-parties and reports might have turned into "means" to have the reports distributed on his weblog.If so, aren't we putting the cart before the horse?Now I just hope Clerk gets well and comes back soon.

THE HITS -Cornerstones 3-/ Chikuzen Satou
One of Chikuzen's works as a musician; cover works "Cornerstones".His third cover album.From 'Cornerstones 2', I got the impression that the songs closely followed the original.On the other hand, in this album, Chikuzen selected famous songs in Japan and overseas as the title shows; 'The Hits', and arranged fleely.'LION Heart' a song of national idol group "SMAP" became a jazzy gospel.WHAM!'s 'Last Christmas' became more funky.I was surprised at these songs.'Mokuren no namida (tears in the season of magnolia)' is a very popular song of Stardust Revue.I heard on the radio- On covering this song, Kaname Nemoto, the leader of Stardust Revue, showed two conditions:・Notice clearly whose original song this was・Not be higher in the charts than originalAs a result, thanks to the great collaboration with Kobukuro, this song made a bigger hit than original.'Tokyo City Serenade'- of course this is Christopher Cross's 'New York City Serenade' and the scene is Tokyo.This song was a theme song of a TV drama 'Tokyo Wonder Hotel' and 'Tokyo Wonder Tours'.Chikuzen appeared on the drama as an extra.Unfortunately, this drama was broadcasted only in Tokyo. Lesson: Avoid placing yourself in a compromising situation.
I still have a long way to go to really grow up...I was typing e-mail with a cell phone on the train.At that time, I set my cell phone "radio wave off" mode; the switch is on and not emitting the radio wave .I confess it is absolutely true.Then, a middle-aged, rather elderly man came and told me that we must switch off the cell phone on the train.I made a mistake of talking back. I intended to make him beat the air- of course it wouldn't work out and he kept saying "You are fool that you cannot read the sign" or something, blah-blah-blah... At that moment, the train stopped and the door opened. As he walked to the door, I told him aloud and clearly-"YES. YOU ARE RIGHT. I AM FOOL AS YOU SAY. NO DOUBT. SORRY." He kept on numbling "Such a fool" until he got off the train.I wondered why he singled me out- anyway, in yielding is strength. He enjoyes bullying meek-looking people, I bet.I even thought later that what if I waved my hand to him with a smile as the train left the station.Was I being childish?Now I know- I should have switched off the cell phone ostentatiously with a poker face and turned away to the next carriage with no word.A single mistake and he could have done me harm.A really clever person would fend off such unreasonable attack well.The answer of 12th Oct.:(1) Waltz. 先週の進捗状況
気晴らしも兼ねて10/14にSING LIKE TALKINGのファン同士のオフ会に参加しました。まずは北新地の有名なうどん屋さんで昼食会。おいしいうどんを食べながら色々な思い出話に花を咲かせました。ファン暦の長い人短い人、思い入れも人それぞれで、これもまた楽し。その後予定を1時間ほど前倒ししてカラオケに。SLTや竹善さんの曲はなるべく他の皆様に歌っていただき、代わりにカバー原曲や関連アーティストの曲をと考えていました。その結果、「Last Christmas」「Jojo」はいいとして、いい具合にスティーヴィー・ワンダー「You Haven't Done Nothin'」があったのでこの曲を借りて作った訳詞（名は「What's KAIKAKU」－コーラスは噴き出すこと確実!?）や、気まぐれで「La Copa De La Vida」も飛び出すなど、一番SLTと無関係な曲を歌ったのは私かも。50曲歌い倒してラストは「Spirit of Love」。マイクを順番に回しながら全員で大合唱―もはやSLTオフ会カラオケでは定番の光景のようですね。しょうぞうさん 「Wind of Change」「ニューヨーク・シティー・セレナーデ」でいい味を出していました。まーびんさん Cross Your Fingers以来の再会は嬉しかったです。みんみんですよさん 風邪は治りましたか？ハルちゃん（ネコきゃっとさんのお嬢ちゃん） とっても可愛い踊りを見せてくれてありがとう。Orangenaさん、せれんさん、ネコきゃっとさん、えみこじさん これからもよろしくお願いします。ご住所が分かる方には断りなくお手紙を書くかも。まみんがーぜっとさん、しろさんとらさんさん 幹事お疲れ様でした。企画・手配誠にありがとうございました。リフレッシュしたところで今週からもがんばります。

Metabolism/ Sing Like Talking
10th album of S.L.T.; four years after their 9th album "Welcome to Another World".Many people must have thought that S.L.T. changed a lot. Actually, I did.In some way, it is true.First, the sound changed. They had never wrote songs like 'The Law Of Contradiction' before.Lyrics also changed. 'Paradise'- a straight anger against society. 'Kanashiki Hummingbird (pity Hummingbird)'- a dark side of humanity.However, even if their music changes, their attitude toward music never changes. カヴァー・ガール/ショーン・コルヴィン
デビューアルバムがグラミー賞を受賞していながら、日本ではあまり知られていないらしいです。ライブテイク(スタジオテイクもある)を中心としたカバーアルバム。自身が好きだというトム・ウェイツやボブ・ディラン、ポリスなどを、少しかげりがありつつ芯のある声で料理しています。70年代フォーク中心の選曲で、正直私には耳馴染みのない曲ばかりですが、１曲目のポリスのカバー「Every Little Thing (He) Does Is Magic」は彼女のカバーの面白さがよく現れています。この人と私にはいくつか共通点があります。・年齢的に遅咲き・オリジナル曲作りと平行して、カバー曲にも積極的に取り組んでいる。・インターネットニュースで知ったのですが、実はこの人もうつ病になっている。彼女がいかなる人物なのかは、オリジナルアルバムを手に入れるまで待つとしましょう。1994年10月21日 ソニーレコード SRCS-7460

ブログ更新遅延の可能性が出てきました。
訳あって転職し、10/2から新しい会社(実際は政府の外郭団体)に行きます。どうも、そこではネットどころか原稿打ちもできそうにありません。目下、家のPC環境がお粗末で、ネットを使う度にフリーズする始末です。携帯メールで更新できますが、記事は全て「10行エッセイ」に分類されます。PCネットが使えるときに編集してカテゴリーを分けますが、それまでカテゴリーと記事の内容が合わないことがあります。ご了承ください。Thank you very much for reading.Recently, I changed jobs and began to work at a new company.In this office, it seems I cannot use Internet nor type manuscripts.I can renew weblog by cell-phone e-mail.Then all the articles I send are grouped under "10-line essays(Japanese)".I edit and classify them later when I can use Internet freely, but until then, the contents of some articles and groups does not match.
