Standing at the front of the ConVEx stage in April 2026, where I presented my project to automate content audits with AI agents at SAP, I made a confession to the audience: I had submitted this talk 8 months earlier thinking the project would be done by the time I was presenting it. Well, it wasn’t. The content audit tool was still in progress, results were still preliminary, and the technology we built on had changed more than once.
2026年4月、ConVExのステージの最前線に立ち、SAPでのAIエージェントによるコンテンツ監査の自動化プロジェクトについて発表した際、私は聴衆に一つの告白をした。このトークには8ヶ月前に応募したのだが、発表の時点ではプロジェクトが完了しているだろうと考えていたのだ。まだ、終わっていなかった。コンテンツ監査ツールはまだ進行中で、結果は依然として暫定的なものであり、私たちが構築の基盤としたテクノロジーは1度ならず変化していた。

The Call to Adventure
冒険への呼びかけ

The project started with a question that sounds simple. Joule, SAP’s AI entry point embedded across all our software, draws its answers from the SAP Help Portal, the online documentation for all SAP’s products. So how do we ensure top quality documentation at scale?
プロジェクトは、一見シンプルに思える一つの疑問から始まった。SAPのすべてのソフトウェアに組み込まれているSAPのAIエントリーポイントであるJouleは、すべてのSAP製品のオンラインドキュメントであるSAPヘルプポータルからその回答を導き出している。では、大規模にトップ品質のドキュメントをどのように保証すればよいのだろうか。

SAP Globalization User Assistance is a team that creates country-specific content for SAP’s localized products. We work with dozens of products, so the documentation is a mix of brand-new content and legacy content. Some pages in our online guides are over 20 years old. We don’t want outdated or inconsistent content to feed the AI layer that customers interact with every day.
SAPグローバリゼーション・ユーザーアシスタンスは、SAPの現地化された製品向けに国別のコンテンツを作成するチームである。私たちは数十の製品を扱っているため、ドキュメントは真新しいコンテンツとレガシーコンテンツが混在している。オンラインガイドの中には、20年以上前のページもある。顧客が毎日対話するAIレイヤーに、古くなったコンテンツや矛盾したコンテンツを供給したくはない。

Content audits were already on our radar. Two colleagues attended a conference in 2018 and brought back the methodology. We’d used it manually, and we knew it worked. What we also knew was that running full audits manually across dozens of products and hundreds of pages was not sustainable.
コンテンツ監査はすでに私たちの視野に入っていた。2人の同僚が2018年の会議に参加し、その手法を持ち帰ってきたのだ。私たちはそれを手動で使っており、効果があることも分かっていた。私たちが分かっていたもう一つのことは、数十の製品や何百ものページにわたって完全な監査を手動で実行することは持続可能ではないということだった。

In May 2025, I volunteered to lead an initiative to automate content auditing with AI. My two colleagues in Germany joined as co-heroes: Ian, a fellow User Assistance Development Architect, and Polina, a computational linguistics student newly hired on the team.
2025年5月、私はAIによるコンテンツ監査の自動化イニシアチブを主導することに立候補した。ドイツにいる私の2人の同僚が「共同ヒーロー」として参加してくれた。ユーザーアシスタンス開発アーキテクトの仲間のイアンと、チームに新しく採用された電算言語学の学生であるポリナだ。
