Coming back to Murodo Station, I restarted the travel on Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route. On that day, I went to the goal of Alpine Route, Tateyama Station, by Tateyama Plateau Bus and Tateyama Cable Car.
Tateyama Plateau Bus, connecting between Murodo Station Bus Stop and Bijodaira Station Bus Stop, runs on bus-only Tateyama Toll Road by hybrid or clean diesel vehicle from the viewpoint of environmental protection. It takes about 50 minutes and the vertical gap is 1473 metre/4832.68 feet between the two bus stops.
Departing from Murodo Station Bus Stop, the bus ran winding mountain road in against Mt. Tate and Mt. Tsurugi. As the bus going down the mountain, it went into in the range of trees.
The bus came to Bijodaira Station Bus Stop almost on time. In front of the station building, a cryptomeria tree called "Bijo-sugi", after which Bijodaira had been named, is planted.
According to the an ancient legend of the tree, a woman, who had got engaged to Ariyori Saeki, founder of Oyama Shrine on the top of Mt. Tate, had prayed the tree for her inmost wish when she had got down the mountain after she had been refused to meet Saeki.
From Bijodaira Station, I transferred to the last line, Tateyama Cable Car, which connects between Bijodaira Station and Tateyama Station. It takes about 7 minutes between the two stations and its steepest slope is 560 per mill (29.25 in degree), the fourth steepest among Japanese cable car.
The vehicle on Tateyama Cable Car has a characteristic point, a open freight wagon is coupled.
The cable car went down in the greenish mountain. Going out of the two tunnels, Shomyo River could be seen from the front window and the cable car came to Tateyama Station, the goal of Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route.
To review the travel on Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route, all of the scenes of mountains and Kurobe Dam, and travel, especially Kansai Electric Power Company Kanden Tunnel Trolleybus, were beautiful and memorable except the rain while travelling with Tateyama Ropeway cable car (aerial lift) on the first day.
