Under cherry trees lie carcasses.Believe me. If not, how could cherry trees blossom with such grace? I was uncertain these few days, wondering how those cherry blossoms could be so beautiful. But now I know. Under cherry trees lie carcasses. You can believe me. やっぱりすごい!****Study Log*****【Read】*Tehanu 8P to P138/252 0:20Financial Times: 0:20【Listen】*Digital Fortress 1:26 to 0:46/11:57

Spring is dawnThe most beautiful time in a day of spring is dawn, which purple clouds drift about the lightening mountain edges. The most beautiful time in a day of summer is night, not only that with moonlight sky, but also when fireflies flutter in the moonless dark. A firefly or two passing along has a taste, and a shower of rain could add another flavor to the night. The most beautiful time in a day of autumn is dusk, which a flock of cawing crow, or two or three crows, hurrying back to the nest, through the crimson sky by the clear mountain silhouette. Geese flying far in arrow shape is impressing, and of course, murmur of wind and symphony of crickets after dark should not be missed. The most beautiful time in a day of winter is early morning, which covered with bland new snow. Frosted white or not, ladies hastily building a fire and delivering braziers is also a scene suits to a shivering morning. All that frozen melt and coals grew white to the noon is ugly. ****Study Log*****【Read】*Tehanu 30P to P130/252 0:40 Financial Times: 0:30【Listen】*Digital Fortress 0:20 to 0:20/11:57 NHK Business English 0:30

The Kite Runner (Unabridged)Author: Khaled HosseiniNarrator: Khaled HosseiniRelease Date: 05-01-2003 Audio Length: 11 hours and 53 min.Reading speed:slightly slow with light accentRecommendation rate:★★★Total Listening Time:343:51(Synopsis)Taking us from Afghanistan in the final days of its monarchy to the present, The Kite Runner is the unforgettable and beautifully told story of the friendship between two boys growing up in Kabul. Raised in the same household and sharing the same wet nurse, Amir and Hassan grow up in different worlds: Amir is the son of a prominent and wealthy man, while Hassan, the son of Amir's father's servant, is a Hazara - a shunned ethnic minority. Their intertwined lives, and their fates, reflect the eventual tragedy of the world around them. When Amir and his father flee the country for a new life in California, Amir thinks that he has escaped his past. And yet he cannot leave the memory of Hassan behind him.The Kite Runner is a novel about friendship and betrayal, and about the price of loyalty. It is about the bonds between fathers and sons, and the power of fathers over sons - their love, their sacrifices, and their lies. Written against a backdrop of history that has not been told in fiction before, The Kite Runner describes the rich culture and beauty of a land in the process of being destroyed. But through the devastation, Khaled Hosseini offers hope for redemption. ( Publisher's Summary)(Review)I think what makes human afraid and offensive is ignorance. As I didn't know about Muslim people and their life, I was thinking of them very dangerous people dare not to go near by.But when I visited Morocco, the Muslim country, I found that thy are basically very honest and proud people with deep love to their family. Thus my fear to Muslims replaced with sympathy. Now, listening this story about the half life of Amir, the Afghan born man, my sympathy gained confidence. The love and honest shown by Amir, his father, Hassan and other people in Afghanistan was what exactly I saw in Morocco. The writing is beautiful but not difficult and reading by the author is quite impressive with the spice of slight accent. If you think of Muslim people as all terrorist or something like that, you must never miss this book and reconsider your impression.

Usually, my weekends are very busy with washing, cleaning and shopping. Add to this, going to skiing once in every two weeks in this winter was making my weekends even busier. Further more, as my older daughter is going to graduate the nursery school and entering a primary school this spring, preparation for this was also taking my time. But as the end of the March is crawling in, ski-season is near to the end and preparation for new school life is almost completed. And alas!, today, the Japanese Holiday for Vernal Equinox Day, I almost have no chores to do, daughters went to the park near my hose, and entire afternoon was my time.I read the newspaper drinking coffee, played piano for two hours, worked on bike for 45 minutes and maintenance the aquarium tank. What a luxury afternoon! I was totally refreshed today.****Study Log*****【Read】*The Farthest Shore P146/214【Listen】*Kite runner 6:30/11:53NHK Business English 0:45

Prey (Unabridged)Author: Michael CrichtonNarrator: George WilsonRelease Date: 11-25-2002 Audio Length: 12 hours and 47 min.Version: UnabridgedReading speed:Natural speedRecommendation rate:★★★Total Listening Time:331:58(Synopsis)In the Nevada desert, an experiment has gone horribly wrong. A cloud of nanoparticles (micro-robots) has escaped from the laboratory. This cloud is self-sustaining and self-reproducing. It is intelligent and learns from experience. For all practical purposes, it is alive. It has been programmed as a predator. It is evolving swiftly, becoming more deadly with each passing hour.Every attempt to destroy it has failed. And we are the prey.As fresh as today's headlines, Michael Crichton's most compelling novel yet tells the story of a mechanical plague and the desperate efforts of a handful of scientists to stop it. Drawing on up-to-the-minute scientific fact, Prey takes us into the emerging realms of nanotechnology and artificial distributed intelligence in a story of breathtaking suspense.Prey is a novel you can't put down.Because time is running out..( Publisher's Summary)(Review)I love Michael Crichton's novels and this was again, fun to read. The concept of reproducing nano-bots with improving intelligence was quite exciting, and the scenes written in the book is as though watching the movie.Further more, what I liked best was the setting of the main character Jack who was a father who has quitted his work and now a house-husband.I was impressed by reality the life described there. Little episode with his children could not be written by a man who has not experienced it. Could the author has experienced it?

My older daughter is now 6 years old and a graduation ceremony was held at nursery school on Saturday. She started her nursery school life when she was merely 4 months old. In the sun or rain, snow or wind, I took her to the nursery school, first carrying her, then holding her hand, then walking after her running before me.I was always afraid of a phone call from nursery school which might announce me her having fever which force me to leave my office to fetch her.One time, I was holding a meeting but it didn't end till the limited time to leave to the nursery school. At the last moment, I declare I had to leave, and left the room passing the chair to my colleague. It was quite regrettable that I couldn't accomplish my task. Now she grew healthy, seldom catch a cold or have a fever, goes to nursery school happily every day.Seeing her growing so well, I couldn't help thanking to the teachers, baby sitters and every one who supported me.****Study Log*****【Read】*The Tombs of Atuan: 0:50 35p to 102/156pFinancial Times: 0:40【Listen】*Prey 12:03/12:47 NHK Business English 0:20
