CP91　98年のエルミタージュは良い年です。このワインも恩恵に預かっていると思います。同年の上級キュヴェのパヴィヨンは98点です。

非常に落ち着いて熟成感のある良く出来たエルミタージュです。流石シャプティエですね。ただ特筆する部分が無いと言うか、パヴィヨンの美味しさを知っているとなんだか特徴のないセカンドワインを飲んでいる様で楽しめません。美味いものを知っているのも不幸な事です。

このワインは「ラ・シゼランヌ」というキュヴェで、シャプティエが所有する畑から状態の良い葡萄を選び作られます。
もちろんバイオ・ダイナミクス農法による有機栽培を実践。木製の開放桶で発酵後に12ヶ月間の小樽で熟成し、清澄やろ過は一切行わずに瓶詰めします。

エルミタージュの代表格と呼ばれる同じくシャプティエのつくる「ル・パヴィヨン」（Le Pavillon）には及ばないけれども、コストパフォーマンスなら断然　「ラ・シゼランヌ」です。
シゼランヌとは　タン・エルミタージュにいた猟師の名前で、彼が所有していたエルミタージュにあった土地をシャプティエ社が受け継ぎ　キュヴェ名になりました。

シラー種　100％
充分な熟成もありながら　口に含んだ時にとても良いインパクトがあります。丸みがあり、エレガントで、タンニンは凝縮していてとても柔らかく感じられます。

One of the strongest efforts Chapoutier has produced from Hermitage is the 1998 Ermitage La Sizeranne, which is performing even better from bottle than it was last year from cask. It offers up an earthy, smoky, sweet black currant-scented nose, followed by big, chewy, full-bodied flavors, excellent texture, and an intriguing liquid mineral nuance to the deep, sweet, ripe flavors. This wine was made from small yields of 15 hectoliters per hectare, and aged in 50% new oak casks. The crop size was 40% less than normal. Anticipated maturity: 2004-2025.

Chapoutier produced an outstanding 1998 Hermitage La Sizeranne. The dark purple color is followed by cassis and flowery (lilacs) aromas. Full-bodied, with moderate tannin, ripe, juicy black fruits, and the longest La Sizeranne finish since the 1990, this top-notch effort will be widely available. Anticipated maturity: 2005-2020.
