りんままさんとお兄ちゃん長旅お疲れさま JFK Airport到着 ↓ 近くのモール内のお店 Build a Bear Workshop West Point ウェストポイント陸軍士官学校 マンハッタン観光 The American Museum of Natural History アメリカ自然史博物館ブログ友のりんままさんと｢お兄ちゃん」が今日 JFK空港から帰国されました。 毎日 我が家でのんびり過ごして頂いて 近くでのショッピング。ウェストポイント陸軍士官学校観光には 三女のエミもボストンから帰ってきて士官候補生（高校時代の同級生）と一緒にランチ。彼は三日前にレーシックの目の手術を受けたばかりでサングラス着用。カーボーイハットを被り細めのジーンズにブーツを穿いてジープで登場。彼の実家はオクラホマで牧場を経営いて 彼は本物のカーボーイです。 彼に軍人専用のお店に連れて行ってもらいました。そこでは制服も買えるのですよ。 ←（新入生の秋の写真､来年卒業です。） マンハッタン観光は映画「ナイトミュージアム」で有名になったアメリカ自然史博物館で半日過ごし、セントラルパークで散歩、バッテリーパークから自由の女神を見てチャイナタウンまで行きました。詳しいことは りんままさんがブログに書くと思います。 来週はケイが春休みなので 私は又 自然史博物館へ行く事になりそうです。

The first day of spring
The gift from London.My Blog friend sent me so many nice things. My other blog friend who has a dog just looks like Duke will visit us from Japan today.I will leave home soon to JFK for picking her and her son up. If I don't call /email back to you, because I have A. A. A. D. D . Recently, I was diagnosed with A. A. A. D. D .Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder This is how it manifests: I decide to water my lawn. As I turn on the hose in the driveway, I look over at my car and decide my car needs washing. As I start toward the garage, I notice that there is mail on the porch table that I brought up from the mail box earlier.I decide to go through the mail before I wash the car. I lay my car keys down on the table, put the junk mail in the garbage can under the table, and notice that the can is full. So, I decide to put the bills back on the table and take out the garbage first.But then I think, since I'm going to be near the mailbox when I take out the garbage anyway, I may as well pay the bills first. I take my cheque book off the table, and see that there is only one cheque left. My extra cheques are in my desk in the study, so I go inside the house to my desk where I find the can of Coke that I had been drinking. I'm going to look for my cheques, but first I need to push the Coke aside so that I don't accidentally knock it over. I see that the Coke is getting warm, and I decide I should put it in the refrigerator to keep it cold. As I head toward the kitchen with the Coke, a vase of flowers on the counter catches my eye - they need to be watered. I set the Coke down on the counter, and I discover my reading glasses that I've been searching for all morning. I decide I better put them back on my desk, but first I'm going to water the flowers. I set the glasses back down on the counter, fill a container with water and suddenly I spot the TV remote. Someone left it on the kitchen table. I realize that tonight when we go to watch TV, I will be looking for the remote, but I won't remember that it's on the kitchen table, so I decide to put it back in the living room where it belongs, but first I'll water the flowers. I pour some water in the flowers, but quite a bit of it spills on the floor. So, I set the remote back down on the table, get some towels and wipe up the spill. Then I head down the hall trying to remember what I was planning to do. At the end of the day: the lawn isn't watered, the car isn't washed, the bills aren't paid, there is a warm can of Coke sitting on the counter,the flowers don't have enough water, there is still only one cheque in my cheque book, I can't find the remote, I can't find my glasses, I don't remember what I did with the car keys, and my neighbor called to tell me he turned off the hose that was flooding the driveway. Then when I try to figure out why nothing got done today, I'm really baffled because I know I was busy all day long, and I'm really tired. I realize this is a serious problem, and I'll try to get some help for it, but first I'll check my e-mail. Do me a favour, will you? Forward this message to everyone you know, because I don't remember to whom it has been sent. Laugh hard 'cuz if this isn't you yet, your day is coming! GROWING OLDER IS MANDATORY. So where is Spring, eh? ロンドンのみいしゃさんから小包が届きました。みいしゃさんは日本のコッカプーブログの元締め､親分です。私がDukeを飼う時 検索で一番上に出てきたコッカプーブログを持っていていつもお世話になっています。可愛いとら吉君に似たコッカプーを捜してDuchに巡り合えました。箱の中には英国の匂いが一杯！！有難うございます。ティータイムが楽しみ。そして、今日は Dukeのそっくりちゃん、クロちゃんの飼い主りんままさんと｢お兄ちゃん」が此方に遊びに来ます。もう直ぐケネディー空港までお迎えに行ってきます。久しぶりの海外旅行で りんままさん緊張しているようです。成田からの直行便、迷子にはなりませんよね～～。今日は春分の日(アメリカでは祝日ではありません。）でもまだ寒いです～～。残り雪がカチカチ山になっています。(例年より寒いらしいです｡)それでも 少しは暖かくなってくるのかな？上に友人からのジョークメールを掲載しました。１０数年来の友人で いつも 面白いメールを送ってくれています。今回は｢熟年注意力欠如障害」についてです。次から次と無関係な事に目に付いて肝心な事をするのを忘れて 一日を忙しく過ごす様子が書かれています。時間がある時、読んでみてください。繰り返しが多い文体で 難しい単語を使っていないので読みやすいと思います。 彼女は親がイギリスからカナダに移民しているので 英国とカナダの二重国籍の保持者です。 アメリカに２０年ほど住んでいますが 英国式のスペルが混じっている事が多いです。この文章でも小切手を chequeと綴っていますが アメリカではcheckが普通に使われています。

Upside Down
I'm air drying Valentine's roses by tying a string around the stems and hanging them upside down.This will prevent moisture from becoming trapped between the flowers which can create mold. They are still pretty, aren’t they? Well, I’m upside down and drying too.However I’m not pretty like air drying roses.This world keeps spinning and there's no time to wasteWell it all keeps spinning spinning round and round andUpside down.（Jack Johnson- youtube, VERY CUTE!! )Kay has a persistent sinus headache (migraine?) and John has a runny nose.I also have something; whatever I have makes me feel extremely tired.That is why I have not been keeping up with my blog lately.Tomorrow I will go see Dr.G.I think my sleeping medication makes me tired during the day.We are going to remodel our kitchen and master bathroom.It seems like taking so much of our time and energy BEFORE the project starts.I know what I want.John says,whatever I like he is fine with him.We have to find a good contractor who doesn’t try to cheat us and does a good job.That is a very hard task to do.We are still waiting for the quotes from a few contractors.I don’t understand why these contractors take some many days/weeks to figure out the numbers. Just wait a minuteJust sitting, waitingJust wait a minuteJust sitting, waiting (Jack Johnson video again) バレンタインズディーの薔薇を空気乾燥させていますが ひと月以上たってもまだ綺麗な色ですね。ドライフラワーにすると 深紅の薔薇は真っ黒になってしまいます。また 葉っぱを抜いてから乾燥させると乾燥が速まって花が落ちてしまう事があります。今回の薔薇は花びらの先に向けて濃い色になっているピンクの薔薇でした。さて 我が家で上下逆さまになっているのは薔薇だけではありません。私も 逆さまに引っ繰り返っています。（実際、火曜日に氷で滑って引っ繰り返りました。）そして《枯れて》きています。でも薔薇のドライフラワーのように綺麗に維持できないないのですよね～。最近ブログの更新をしていないので 娘達や友人や日本の妹達から｢元気？身体の調子が悪いの？」と心配のメール、電話がありました。この数週間 ケイはしつこい頭痛に悩まされていてジョンは アレルギーから鼻水...「鼻水が出る」を英語で ”a runny nose”と言います。鼻が走っているのでも 鼻が流れているのでもありませんよ～。私は毎日身体がだるくて...元気がありません。明日、ファミリードクターの予約が入っています。多分 常用している睡眠薬の所為ではないかと思うのですが...元気がなくてもしなければならない事が貯まっています。今年のプロジェクト．．．台所に手をいれて マスターバスルームを改造。数人の建築業者が先週下見に来ました。どのように改造するかは既に決定しています。現在 私達は総工費の見積もりを待っている状態です。材料費は私たちが既にショールームを回って調べています。カタログも貰っているし、（上の二枚のシャワールームの写真を合わせたようなデザイン）どうして人件費･工費の見積もりに何週間も掛かるのか分りません。アメリカでは下見に来た業者が見積書を提出しなかったり常識では考えれないほどの高値の見積書を持ってきたり．．．この近所の豪邸のおかげで我が家も金持ちだと誤解されているのですよね。そして いざ工事が開始されても 予定通りに仕事が終了しない場合が殆どです。一旦工事が始まったら マスターバスルームはひと月以上使用できないそうです。台所は引越しして直ぐにリモデルしているので今回は二週間ほど。夏休み中に 二階のペンキ塗りをして 数年後に家を売るまで大きなプロジェクトはないと思います。それにしても 良心的な信頼の出来る業者を捜すのが最大のプロジェクト。先回 雇った大工さんは盗難癖があったので二度と雇う気はありません。頭が痛いです。

The Girl’s Day
Japanese friend sent me a cute pop up card.Today is Hina Matsuri: the Girl’s Day, also called the Doll Festival Day in Japan.On this day families with young daughters celebrate this event at home to ensure their daughter's future happiness.Japanese display a set of ornamental dolls representing the Emperor,Empress, attendants, and musicians in traditional court dress of theHeian period that was the peak of the Japanese imperial court and wasnoted for its art, especially poetry and literature. The custom of displaying dolls began during the Heian period. Formerly, people believed the dolls possessed the power to contain bad spirits, and would thus protect the owner.Most families take their beautiful collection of dolls out of the closet around mid-February and put it away again as soon as Hina Matsuri is over.This is because of an old superstition that families that are slow in putting back the dolls have trouble marrying off their daughters.Now you know why we display the dolls whole year long.We like to keep our girls as long as possible.今日は雛祭りでしたね。日本から可愛いカードが届いていました。りんままさん、有難う!!我が家にもお雛様があります。一年中、ダイニングルームのキャビネットの中に飾っています。日本では早く仕舞わないと婚期が遅れると言いますよね。ジョンは娘達が婚期を逃しても構わないと思っています。今日は Duchも女の子らしくリボンを付けました。厭そうな顔をしていますね。 信じられない事に日本の妹が ｢え~、Duchって女の子だった？」と先週の電話で言っていました。どうも 私のブログをチャンと読んでいないようですね～～。（由美ちゃん、あなたの事ですよ~~~。）若しかして由美ちゃんの愛犬を「珍獣・グレムミン」とブログに書いた私に挑戦?私の勝ちですよ～。最近、国際電話の通話料金が安くなって便利になりましたね。今では国内の長距離電話料金と変わりないので よく長電話をしています。安いと言っても、長話をしては かなりの料金になりますよね。いつも妹から電話が有る度に「次回は此方からかけるからね~」と言っているのですが 彼女に先を越されてしまっています。今日は妹達が実家に集まっているので今から実家に電話をします。妹三人が集まってさぞかし実家は姦しいでしょうね。
