school is out
Kay baked cookies last night.They are Christmas gifts for her friends. Her school is out from tomorrow through 01/02/08.I don't know what she wants to do during her winter vacation, but I know what she has to do!!She better clean her rooms.She uses two rooms and both are messy.If we let her to use three rooms, I will bet $100, she will make all three rooms messy.The rooms look like after a hurricane passed over the area.She was a very neat kid when she was younger.I don't know what happened to her.Maybe Oklahoma Tornado got into her. 昨晩 ケイがクッキーを焼きました。今日 学校でお友達に配るクリスマスプレゼント用。明日から1月2日まで冬休みです。ケイは高校最後の冬休みを如何過ごす予定なのでしょうね？私の希望は 部屋の掃除！！お姉ちゃんの部屋まで占領して二部屋 メチャメチャな状態です。嵐の後のようです。小さい頃は神経質なくらい整理整頓をする子供だったのにオクラホマに引っ越して オクラホマ名物（？）の竜巻を身につけてしまったのでしょうか？私は明日から家族のクリスマスパーティーの準備で忙しくなります。アメリカでは大晦日にパーティーをしても 一般的に新年会をする習慣がありません。大晦日にはレストランやバーなどでミッドナイトまで過ごす友人達も多いので我が家では30日に忘年会をします。忘年会と言う観念も此方ではなく、私が招待状（Evite)に「年の終わりのパーティー」と書いたのに 友人達は｢ホリディーパーティー」と言っています。 クリスマスの他にも今月はユダヤの祭日 ハヌカ（Hanukkah） 黒人（アフリカン･アメリカン）の祭日 クワンザ（Kwanzaa）があります。そして新年。だから ホリディーシーズンと言うのです。今回パーティーの招待に利用したEviteという無料ネットサーヴィスは素晴らしいです。個人がパーティの招待状を送ったり 招待客リストを管理できるイベント企画サイトです。日本にもあるかしら？招待客 全員のリストが見られて誰が出席･欠席の返事をしたかも判ります。また ホストだけでなくゲストがメッセージを残す事もできます。そしてパーティーの後で写真を掲載する事も出来ます。とっても便利ですよ。

bumper
I hit a snowbank going slowly into a gas station.(It was less than 5 MPH. Kay is my witness.)I knew that as the temperature goes down, the snow would get harder.However I didn't think the bumper would get this much damage.$800 for a front bumper!!I shouldn't cry though.Because if I were driving Nissan Quest, the bill would be $2000!! The front and rear bumper systems on these minivans allowed $5,000 or more damage in a series of 4 crash tests conducted at 3 and 6 mph. The Nissan Quest was the worst, sustaining damage that cost more than $8,000 to repair. (The Auto Channel )I told John that all I want to for Christmas is a bumper!The bad luck didn't stop here.I got three nails on my tires.John heard the hissing sound in the garage.He thought we got one air leaking tire.Oh well, not one tire.Two rear tires.Three nails.I just had a flat tire in October.Four nails in two months!!!What I got? Tires full of Nail magnets?While we were at the auto body shops to get estimates and at the tire shop, Kim called our home phone.She wanted go to Korean town with me today.What a bad timing!I really wanted go Korean town last few weeks.I just miss a chance to go shopping with her.I hope that my all bad lucks have gone for good. I got a new toy.A Grinder.I read that small grinder is cheaper and as good as the nail grinder for dogs at the dog message board. This is much easier than using a nail cutter.I don't have to worry cutting their nail too short.I think this is the best Christmas gift for our dogs. ガソリンスタンドに進入する時 除雪された雪の塊にバンパーをぶつけてしまいました。本当にゆっくりしたスピードだったのですよ。(ケイが証人）気温が下がるにつれて 雪が氷になって硬くなっているのは判っていたのですがまさか これほどの被害だとは思いませんでした。800ドルの修理代です。不幸中の幸いで 若し以前所有していた日産のミニバンを運転していたら2000ドルの修理代。今日のテレビのニュースで如何にバンパーの修理代が高いか話題になっていました。兎も角 これで私のクリスマスギフトは｢バンパー」に決まりそうですね。悪運はこれでは終わりにならず･･･車庫でジョンが空気漏れの音を聞きとがめました。後輪のタイヤが空気漏れしているようだったので自動車修理工場に行くついでにタイヤショップに行ってきました。何とタイヤ二輪に三個の釘が刺さっていたとは・・・10月に釘が刺さったタイヤを修理したばかり。どうも 私は釘を引き寄せる磁石付きのタイヤを所有しているようです。半日 バンパーの修理代の見積もりやタイヤ修理で外出している間に友人のKimから自宅に留守電が入っていました。(私の携帯はバッテリーが切れていたのですよね～）今日 一緒にコリアンタウンまで行かないか？と言うお誘いの電話。直ぐに電話をかけなおしたのですが 既に出かけた後。この数週間 コリアンマーケットに行きたくて､ずっと考えていたのに本当にタイミングが悪い。これほど運が悪い事が続いたら もう悪運も何処かに行ってくれたでしょうね。さて 電動グラインダーを購入しました。アメリカの犬の掲示板で《家庭大工用の電動グラインダーは犬の爪用のグラインダーより安くて使いやすい》と書いてありました。本当に使いやすいし 犬用の爪きりのように深爪してしまう心配もないです。犬達にとって一番のプレゼントですね。

Some examples are : * Quercetin, a flavonoid abundant in apples has been found to help prevent the growth of prostate cancer cells. * Phytonutrients in the skin of apples inhibited the growth of colon cancer cells by 43%. * Food containing flavonoids like those in apples may reduce risk of lung cancer as much as 50%. * Dietary phenolics such as flavonoids (found in apples) have inhibitory effects on the developments of carcinogenic substances in the bladder, thereby reducing risk of bladder cancer, especially in smokers.(Benefits of Apples)雪で運転がかなり危険な状態になりました。此方では雪でもタイヤにチェーンを取り付ける習慣がないので滑って回転する車が多いです。雪が降るとジョンは｢ハワイに引越ししよう」と言います。シアトルに住んでいるジェニーは家族全員がシアトルに引越しするのを望んでいて どうやらエミも来年にはシアトルに引っ越す可能性が大。私達にはシアトルの方がハワイより理想的かな？我が家の庭には冬になってもリンゴがまだ成っています。｢一日一個のリンゴで医者不用」とアメリカでは言われていますがリンゴにはコレステロール低下、便通を良くする等の他にも喘息や色々な癌の予防にも効果があるそうです。

dinner party
We had a small dinner party.There was a flu going on and some couldn't join us.One guest got lost... He said he took a nap that evening and woke up too late for the dinner, but we believe that he got lost and he was too "manly" to ask for the directions.It was nice to have some good conservations with few people rather than chatting with too many people.We will have a big "The end of the year" party on 12/30.We have invited people to play games, and that will be fun.数人の友人達とのディナーパーティーを楽しみました。いつも大人数のパーティーばかりでゆっくりと会話を楽しむ事が出来ないのですが今回は少人数で興味深い話題で盛り上がりました。インフルエンザが流行っているらしく 数人が欠席。一人は本人は夕方に仮眠をとって寝過ごしてしまって夕食に間に合わなかったという言い訳でしたが私達は彼が道順を訊くのは《男らしくない》恥ずかしくて迷子になったのだと確信しています。年末には40人ほど招待しての忘年会を開きます。ゲームを楽しむ計画を立てています。

Christmas tree
We got a Christmas tree. We didn't cut a tree from our backyard. They are away too big.We bought a smaller Blue Spruce tree at the Christmas tree shop and it was too tall for our foyer.John chopped the top of the tree about one and half feet.He thinks the tree is too wide and he wants to trim some brunches.(Christmas 2006) （２００５） I think its fine.What do you think? 今年のクリスマス･ツリーです。裏庭の木を切ったのではありませんよ。裏庭のはどれも大きすぎるのでクリスマス･ツリー･ショップで買いました。今の時期 車の屋根にクリスマス･ツリーを載せて走っている車を良く見ます。去年は地下室から偽物のツリーを引っ張り出しましたがやはり､本物の方が良いです。(去年）(一昨年）ダグラス･ファーの木で リサもケイもアレルギーが出たので今年はブルー・スプルース(コロラド産の松)にしてみました。野外のショップでは それ程 大きくは見えなかったのですが苦労して家に持って帰ってきたら天井より高すぎて 45cmほど頭を切り落としました。ジョンは幅が広すぎるから 剪定すると言っています。少々 大きくても構いませんよね～？DukeとDuchの首輪もクリスマス･モードです。

first snow of the season
We got our first snow today. About one inch of the white snow covers the brown oak leaves on the ground.We are expected to start this afternoon in the form of snow mixed with sleet.And then the weather should change into a period of freezing rain.Driving on Monday morning should be a little messy.Kay's teacher thinks their school will be closed on Monday, but I don't think they will be that lucky.More likely, the school will have a delay. Our dogs were eating the bird seeds on the ground yesterday.I think their bodies naturally need a more fatty diet in winter season.Nature's Wonder!! Does your dog sleep like this? この冬の初雪です。地面を覆っていた柏の葉の茶色が白い雪でカヴァーされて新鮮な風景になっています。雪は一日中降り続けていますが 精々２～３ｃｍしか積もっていません。でも 今晩は霙になるそうで 明朝のラッシュアワーのドライヴは混乱しそうですね。ケイの先生は｢月曜日は休校だね。」と言っていますが休校ではなく二時間遅れで学校が始まる事になるのではと 私は推測しています。先生も生徒も休校になる事を期待してますね。我が家の犬達は昨日から 地面に落ちた鳥の餌用の種をムシャムシャ食べています。冬になって身体が自然に脂肪分を必要としてきているようです。自然て素晴らしいですね。
