魚を落とすカワセミ／A kingfisher that dropped his prey
カワセミは最近餌をとっても、自分は食べずに、巣穴の子どもたちに運びます。水に飛び込んで魚を捕り、くわえながら子供まで届けようとしたところ、うっかり魚を落としてしまいました。すぐに気が付き、空中でUターンし、餌を落とした地点に潜り、無事魚をくわえて再飛行です。一連の動きを写真にまとめました。ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーRecently, Kingfishers supply the prey that they caught for their children in the nest without eating it themselves.A male kingfisher mistakenly dropped the fish from his beak when he was on his way to go to his children after he jumped into water and got the fish.He, of course, found the fact out so that he turned on the fly, he dived in where he dropped the prey, he got it again with safety.Attached pictures showed a series of moves.

オオタカの交尾／Northern Goshawks mating
オオタカの交尾の写真です。オスがメスの上に乗り、お互いの総排泄腔をすり合わせて精子を送り、2～３秒で交尾は終わります。私が写真を撮っていたときは、オスがメスの体から横に飛び降りた後も、少しの間、メスが尻を上に突き出したままだったので、その総排泄腔が良く見えました。双方の総排泄腔を重ねて交尾するため、オスは自分の腹をかなり曲げていると思います。ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーThis is a picture of Northern Goshawks mating. When the male balances on top of the female, rubbing of cloaca each other, transporting sperm quickly during two or three seconds and the mating is complete.When I took the picture, I could see the female's cloaca very well because she remained her tail up for a short time after finishing the mating, the male moved her side.I guess the male must bent his belly in order to do their cloacal kiss with easy balance.

オオタカ／Northern Goshawk
先月、はるか遠くの木の枝にオオタカのメスがいるのを見つけました。カメラを向けるといきなりオスがやってきました。添付は夫婦のオオタカの写真です。メスはオスよりも体が大きく、オスはメスを恐れているようです。恐妻家ですね。ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーI found out a female northern goshawk sitting on a branch of a tree far in the distance last month. Hardly had I pointed a camera at it before a male goshawk came near the female.Attached is a picture of a couple of the goshawk. Females are bigger than males and the male seems to be fearful of the partner. It is a hen pecked husband.

カメラ / Camera
今使っているコンパクトデジカメは、3代目です。1代目は9年前に家族旅行用に購入した、CANON IXY DIGITAL 251Sです。3年前に壊れてしまいましたが、被写界深度が深いため、蝶や虫にカメラを近づけても、ストレス無く写真が撮れました。2代目は5年前に家族旅行用に購入した、CANON IXY 3です。1代目よりも望遠で写真が撮れるのですが、昆虫が撮りにくくなりました。これも去年の夏に壊れてしまいました。3代目は去年の秋に購入した、CANON PowerShot SX720 HSです。マクロ撮影では被写界深度が浅いので、虫の写真はうまくピントが合わず諦めていますが、40Ｘ望遠なので、鳥の写真を撮り始めました。カワセミの写真はこのカメラで撮影しています。周りの人たちは、300ミリ望遠F2.8とか、400ミリ望遠F2.8、500ミリ望遠F4などを一眼レフカメラに付けてカワセミ写真を撮っているので、いつも羨ましく思います。（写真は左から1代目、2代目、3代目のカメラです）ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーNow I use the third digital compact camera that I bought.The first digital camera was CANON IXY DIGITAL 251S I bought nine years ago for my family travel, which was already broken. It had a deep depth of field so that I could take many photos of insects without stress.The second camera was CANON IXY 3 that has more telephoto than former one, which was broken too.The third camera was CANON PowerShot SX720 HS. Though it was a shallow depth of field that caused me to give up taking insects photos when I did macro shooting, having 40x telephoto lens, I take many Kingfishers.Those who take many pictures of kingfishers around me have some telephoto lens with 300mm F2.8, 400mm F2.8 ,500mm F4 focal length etc. I feel a touch of envy.(Attached picture shows that the 1st, 2nd and 3rd cameras from left side)

カワセミの交尾／Kingfishers mating
カワセミの交尾です。数秒程度の一瞬の出来事で、ピントも合いませんでした。ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー I took a picture of Kingfishers mating that seems like a blink of an eye or only a few second so that I could not have enough time to focus the camera on it.

カワセミの給餌行為 / Courtship feeding of Kingfisher
求愛の季節になると、カワセミのオスが、捕まえた魚をメスにプレゼントします。気に入れば、メスはそれを食べますが、気に入らなければ拒否します。以前、オスが大きなザリガニを捕まえてメスに渡そうとしましたが、メスは気に入らないのか、飛び去ったのを見たことがあります。ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーA male kingfisher sometimes tries to feed a female in their love season. If the female loves the present so much, she eats it. If not, she rejects to eat it.I saw that a male kingfisher gave a big crawfish which he caught to a female , but the female ran away because she did not like it.

ミュシャ展／Exhibition of Alphonse Mucha
昨日、東京六本木にある国立新美術館に行き、ミュシャ（以下ムハと書きます）展を見ました。今回ぜひ見たかったのは、「スラヴ叙事詩」20枚の大作です。ムハの絵が好きで、パリ時代に描いたポストカードなどは集めていたのですが、ヨーロッパで買ったムハの本に、スラヴ叙事詩が紹介してあり、ぜひ見たいと思っていました。昔、プラハへはドイツ・ドレスデンから黒い森を抜けて、車を運転して何度か旅行をしました。国境の検問を無事越えると、ほっとしました。モルダウ川を見下ろすプラハ城にあるプラハ国立美術館で「スラヴ叙事詩」がそこには無い事を知り、残念に思っていました。今回、東京でその絵画を見ることができ、とても幸せでした。1回見ただけではもったいない気がして、何度も展示会場を回っては見直し、満足しました。ムハのリトグラフでは、「四芸術」、「４つの星」の絵が好きです。まだ見てなくて心残りの絵は、ムハの「スラーヴィア」です。外交官クレーン氏夫人をモデルにして描いた絵で、左手に輪を持ち、向かって右端には鷹がいます。スラヴ民族の女神「スラーヴィア」として描かれています。プラハで見逃した絵で、是非本物を見てみたいです。ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーI went to The National Art Center Tokyo at ROPPONGI in Tokyo, seeing the exhibition of Alphonse Musha yesterday. I love his paintings. What I wanted to see the best is "The Slav Epic" this time. As I read a book about Musha's works when I lived in Europe, I realized the existing of the great peaces.I sometimes traveled to Prague from Dresden in Germany through the black forest by car I drove myself. Though I enjoyed the sightseeing, I regret that I should not have seen the painting of "The Slav Epic" there. These were in other places. So I am very happy to see its in Tokyo now.I like his lithograph of Art series and Star series.What I desire to see one of Musha's paintings is "SLAVIA", which was painted for Slavic goddess, that was modeled by Josephine Crane who is diplomat Mr.Crane's wife.

ブリューゲル「バベルの塔」展／"The Tower of Babel"by Bruegel.
朝から天気が悪かったので、カワセミの池ではなく、美術館に行きました。午前中は、東京都美術館のブリューゲル「バベルの塔」展に行き、午後は国立新美術館の「ミュシャ」展を見た後、六本木ヒルズの日産スカイライン歴代車展示イベントに行きました。国立新美術館で「草間彌生わが永遠の魂」展も見ようと思いましたが、チケット売り場があまりの行列だったので、諦めました。上野公園にある東京都美術館では、オランダ・ロッテルダムにあるボイマンス美術館所蔵の絵を展示中ですが、特にブリューゲルの「バベルの塔」が有名です。昔ヨーロッパにいたころ、ボイマンス美術館には何度も通いました。見慣れた絵だと思っていましたが、今回の展覧会で解説を読むと、知らないことだらけで、驚く事ばかりでした。例えば、バベルの塔の向かって左側に赤いラインがあるのは、焼いた赤いレンガを下から上に釣り上げているためできた跡で、同様にその右の白いラインは、セメントを上に釣り上げるときにできた跡など、知ることができて楽しかったです。ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーBecause of bad whether since morning, I went not to a pond where Kingfishers live but to go to some museums in Tokyo. I visited at TOKYO METROPOLITAN ART MUSEUM in Ueno, which is now on show some paintings of MUSEUM BOIJMANS at Rotterdam in the Netherlands. One of the collections that is very famous in the world is "The Tower of Babel" by Pieter Bruegel. When I lived in Europe, I visited there and saw the picture many times, which is familier-looking for me. But I could study a lot about " The Tower of Babel" at the exhibition today, reading the interpretation written by the specialists, which made me surprised. For example, on the observer's left of the tower, we see the reddish line on the building from bottom to top. It's the trail of red bricks supply. Similarly, the white line near reddish one is for cement supply for the construction.

カワセミのジャンプ / Kingfisher's jumping up
メスのカワセミが水中に飛び込んだ後、水しぶきを上げながら飛び上がる瞬間です。カワセミの動きに合わせてカメラを動かすのは、とても難しいです。ほとんどの写真がピンボケや画面外れです。しかし、この難しさが楽しいのかもしれません。ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーIt is an instantaneous picture that a female kingfisher just jumps up from water with a splash after it swooped down to the water.How difficult for me to trace its movement by my camera !Most of pictures I took are missing the point and going out of the flame.But, I think that I am motivated enough because of the difficulty, which makes me happy.

カワセミのくちばしの色／ Color of King fisher's beak
カワセミのオスとメスを見分ける簡単な方法は、くちばしの色を見る事です。オスは上、下くちばしともに黒っぽい色ですが、メスの下くちばしはオレンジっぽいです。ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーThe easiest way to recognize king fisher's sex is to check color of their beaks.While male's beak is blackish, female's lower mandible is orangish.

木星 / Jupiter
5年前に撮影した、木星の写真（2013年1月27日21時29分）です。口径20センチのドブソニアン反射望遠鏡に、家族旅行用に購入したポケットカメラ CANON IXY DIGITAL 251S を近づけて、手動でコリメート方式で撮影しました。木星の表面には、目玉のような大赤斑や白い渦、そして帯や縞も見えます。衛星も1つ写っています。凍えるような寒い夜で、歯をガタガタさせながら撮影した記憶があります。ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーIt's a picture of JUPITER which I took about 5 years ago. The date and time is Jan 27, 2013 at 21:29.I bought a dobsonian reflector telescope that diameter is 20 cm and a small pocket digital camera (CANON IXY DIGITAL 251S) for my family's travel snapshot. I tried to bring the camera to the eyepiece of dob with collimate way by hand.We can see the great red spot, some white storms, some bands and stripes on the surface of Jupiter, and one satellite.I remembered taking the picture, making my teeth chatter, in the very cold icy night.

瑞風 ／ TWILIGHT EXPRESS MIZUKAZE
先週、広島県ＪＲ宮島口駅で、ＪＲ西日本の豪華観光列車であるトワイライトエクスプレス「瑞風」を見ました。試運転中です。緑色の車体を見ると、2015年に運行を終了した「トワイライトエクスプレス」を思い出します。展望デッキも印象的な形をしています。2017年6月半ばに営業運転を開始し、中国地方を周遊する予定です。乗ってみたいのですが、高額のため、残念ながら乗ることは無いでしょう。ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーI saw the TWILIGHT EXPRESS "MIZUKAZE" (FRESH WIND) at MIYAJIMAGUCHI station in HIROSHIMA prefecture last week. It is a luxury sightseeing train, which is a test run now, made by JR west or West Japan Railway Company.The green body color reminds me of the former special train "TWILIGHT EXPRESS" that was finished running in 2015, added that the design of viewing deck is very impressive, characteristic appearance.Mizukaze will start a business run from the middle of June 2017、which is planing to take around the Chugoku district in Japan.I wish I could have a chance to take the train, to be sure, but I regret to say that I should not get on it because of the very expensive fare.

かわいいカワセミ ／ A king fisher
メスのカワセミが、池のそばの枝につかまりながら獲物を探しています。オレンジの胸と明るいブルーの羽根が特徴的で、とても美しいです。いつ水面に飛び込むか分からず、カメラを構えながら、忍耐の時間が続きます。ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーA female kingfisher is in search of prey, sitting on the branch near a pond.She is characteristic of orange chest and bright blue wings, which is breathtaking beauty.As I have no idea when she will fly into the water, I force myself to wait until she will do so with patience.
