Eosさんの少し前の日記で紹介されていたアンチバベルの塔に影響され、とりあえず2万語を目指してから1週間経ちました。今回は パス単のチェックと新聞記事からのチェックの二本立てです。PBや新聞を読むだけの時より、ここに書きとめた時の方が印象に残りやすかったので、更にパス単チェックと同時進行にすれば 単語と再会したときにさらに「!」とか「?」と記憶に残りやすいのでは…と期待しています。A5のルーズリーフにとりあえずパス単のうろ覚えの単語を最初から抜き出しています。書き抜くだけなので簡単。(前のをドンドン忘れてますが、気にしない^^; )そして、その日に読んだニュースやビジ英の中で出会った見慣れない単語をPDICに新しい辞書グループVocaを作って、登録しているところです。こちらはまだ2日目で試行錯誤中。英語上達完全マップの「トレーニングを継続するために」によれば、倦怠を飼い慣らすことがポイントだそうです。上手に飼い慣らしたいものですね。d(^-^)

米グーグル、写真管理ソフトの新版『Picasa 2』で読んで、Picasaを試してみました。インストールする時に、全写真のカタログを作る(だったかな?)を選択したので、かなり時間がかかって、Googleデスクトップの二の舞か?と一瞬焦りましたが、大丈夫でした。日本語に対応していないので、フォルダ名が日本語のものは文字化けすること、メニューが全て英語なのちょっと分かりにくいことなどがありますが、画像の修正も出来たり、ちょっとかわいい壁紙が作れたり、すっかり忘れていたような古い写真と対面出来て楽しかったです。Helloで写真の共有も出来るし、Bloggerとも連携しているようです。★Picasa★Google Releases Improved Photo Management Software to Organize and Share Pictures----- Collage機能を使ってつくってみた画像画像を選択して、Collageボタンを押すと簡単に画像が出来たり、壁紙になったりするので面白いです。(仕事がハカドラン…)

ビジ英Lesson9WorkFatigue(2)からdaily grind*All they want is a chance for scant sleep after the daily grind.辛くて味気ない毎日(の仕事[勉強])dailyはもちろん「日々の」。grindは、もともと「石うすを回して粉をひくこと」の意だが、転じて「(同じことの繰り返しで、精神的にも肉体的にも消耗する)辛くて単調な営み」の意味にも使われるようになった。A: How's school? B: It's a grind.(A「学校はどうだい?」B「辛くて味気ないよ」)。見出しのthe daily grindは決まった言い方で、主として「仕事」や「勉強」について使われる。このtheは「(だれでも経験しているような)例の」といった感じを表しているし、dailyからは「この先何年続くか分からない」とか「いつ終わるとも知れない」といったニュアンスが感じとれる。I'm sick and tired of the daily grind.
