The Denver Broncos will bewithout their starting quarterbackwhen they host the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship Game next Sunday .
But Nick Foles doesn’t believe it’s all bad news for Denver.
“Note for the Broncos and their fans: I know it has been an emotional 24 hours. I feel for Bo (Nix) and the team, and I’m sending prayers for a strong recovery,” the former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback posted to X . “A positive note going into the game versus the Patriots is that they struggle against backup QBs in championship-type games.”
Foles was thrust into Philadelphia’s starting quarterback role when Carson Wentz suffered a season-ending ACL injury in 2017. When the Eagles reached Super Bowl LII , many thought it was a lock for the Tom Brady-led Patriots, especially with him going up against a backup quarterback.
Despite throwing for over 500 yards, the Patriots fell to the Eagles for their first-ever Super Bowl title with a 41-33 win.
While losing Nix to a fractured ankle is certainly a big blow to the Broncos, anything can happen in the playoffs. The Patriots took out the Texans — who many experts picked to win because of the defense they boasted — and the Broncos can be the ones to end New England ’s magical postseason run with an upset.
The Broncos will turn to Jarrett Stidham , who spent two seasons with the Patriots.
