Named for then Mayor Josiah Quincy who had a big hand in its construction, Quincy Market is a 27,000 square foot (2500 square meter) building constructed between 1824 and 1826. Though Quincy Market has always been associated with food, its scope has now expanded beyond simply grocery to include restaurants and many fast-food outlets. It is one of downtown's busiest lunchtime spots.
