Can De'Von Achane put up a top-five fantasy running back season in 2026?

24-year-old Devin Achane is a fantasy superstar heading into the final year of his rookie contract.
Kyle Dvorak, it is extension time.
He really wants said extension.
He's missed some off-season activities, nothing mandatory, so far.
But apparently so far, the word on the street is they're not close to a new deal.
Devin Achane may be wary of signing for a team that's rebuilding everywhere, a new coach, maybe a new offensive system, definitely some new faces on offense.
Can Devin Achane, he was the RB5 both by total PPR points and average PPR points last year, can he ascend higher in 2026, or does the state of this rebuilding Dolphins offense make that unlikely?
Could he ascend higher?
Yes.
I think you're teeing me up for exactly what I'm gonna say.
It's possible because I genuinely think not only is it top five talent, if we look back at his career in a few years, in five or 10 years, and say like, "There was a period where this guy was maybe a top three offensive player or top three running back," I believe that to be true.
He's so explosive on the ground.
He's a dynamic pass-catching weapon through the air.
With all of the love he deserves, I'm going to say he probably doesn't finish as the RB5 for all the reasons you pointed out.
There's turnover in terms of the offensive scheme, at least in terms of who's calling the play, probably some scheme stuff as well that I don't think I'm looking forward to.
They're bringing a new quarterback in Malik Willis as well.
They're probably going to somehow be worse than they were last year this upcoming season.
To me, this is borderline a tanking NFL team.
At least their off-season actions kind of say they're a tanking NFL team, and that's just not a great setup for a running back.
So I still think he's clearly an RB1, and probably in that top half of the RB1 situation.
But I don't think he can really push top three or even repeat a top five season just because of the situation being so poor for him.
Yeah, we can expect a running back-friendly system with dual-threat quarterback Malik Willis, but it was already running back-friendly with Mike McDaniel.
