Could AJ Barner be a top 10 tight end in the National Football League this season?
One hundred percent yes.
What's up, y'all?
It's Ross Jostle with A to Z Sports, and Ben Solak talked about Seahawks tight end AJ Barner and how he thinks that Barner could have a breakout season, and that he is, quote, "a discount George Kittle."
Now, AJ Barner has been excellent.
His first two years in Seattle.
Had less production in his rookie year than this past season with the Super Bowl run, but that is to be expected.
This is a guy who, in two seasons, has caught eighty-two of his one hundred and six targets, which is crazy.
He also has ten touchdowns in his two seasons so far, and he was excellent in the Super Bowl.
Four catches on four targets, fifty-four yards and a touchdown.
This dude is a specimen as well.
Six-six, about two hundred and fifty pounds.
He can do it all.
He can impose his will in the run game, and he can be a viable target on the perimeter for Sam Darnold and that Seahawks passing attack.
I think AJ Barner will have a lot more noise surrounding him this season in a good way.
I think with more eyes being on Seattle as the defending champs, and them having another year in this offense and this system, another year with him having Darnold as his quarterback, I think the sky's the limit for AJ Barner.
I know that Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Rasheed Shaheed, Cooper Kupp, all the receivers get all the attention, and I get that.
But AJ Barner is a big part of this Seahawks offense, and I think when the season is all said and done this year, that AJ Barner will solidify himself as a top ten, maybe even top eight tight end in the National Football League.
