We have to talk about Bill Belichick.

Woof.

As we're recording this on August 10th, his BFF/general manager- Michael Lombardi is on paid administrative leave and being investigated for a something that was prompted by a Human Resources complaint- Not great according to The Athletic.

His son and defensive coordinator, Steve Belichick, is on medical leave.

Oh, sorry.

And they're not sure that they're gonna have him for week, for their opener against, TCU.

Not great, and hope that he is fine.

Yes.

Yes, but not great.

So these are two of the, you know, people obviously closest to Bill Belichick- Right in, in the world.

Yes.

Not just, like, on his staff.

Yeah, period.

And so there's just, again, more off-the-field headlines.

You've had a number of them over It's kind of crazy, only been one year- Mm-hmm of Bill Belichick experiment in, in Chapel Hill.

Everything that anyone wanted to know about Jordan Hudson, his girlfriend, and her role involvement as a non-employee at UNC.

Shaking my head.

And then just everything with the roster, right?

Yeah.

So, so Michael Lombardi comes in, also from the NFL, says they're gonna do things the NFL way.

They're gonna be the 2013.

They're a good team.

Oh my God.

And then that roster was not good enough to compete- Yeah, no, they stunk in the AFC.

They were bad.

Yeah, they weren't good.

They, like, that's evaluation.

Yep.

Money going to the wrong players.

Mm-hmm.

Or ho- however you want to sum that up.

So there's on the field, off the field, everything else that's happening.

We already wondered, "How long does Bill Belichick even wanna do this?"

He says the right things about, you know, coaching college football, wanting to be there, enjoying it, learning that he's loving, you know, this, this chapter.

But I mean, I don't know, you gotta be watching, like, how much longer is this gonna go on?

It's a great question.

And I- Maybe if they win a lot of football games, that changes.

That's kind of the thing, right?

Like, I think the, the results dictate a lot of how, how much longer we get this, right?

Like, if they, if they went 7 and 5 this year, certainly wouldn't feel like the greatest year in the world, but, like, that would be an improvement.

Off, off of four wins.

Yeah.

I think for sure.

Trending in the right direction.

Like, maybe people are like, "Okay, gotta give this a little bit more time."

They go 4 and 8 again, they go 3 and 9, what do you do?

Yeah.

What does he do?

And what does he do?

Does he just say, "You know what, I tried it.

It's no good.

I'm old.

I'm out."

And again, North Carolina brass, which was already divided and fractured- and went over the athletic director to make this hire in the first place, do the factions realign, or is there political pressure to make a change as well?

And worth noting too, from a football perspective- Oh, here we go Bobby Petrino as the offensive coordinator.

What does that- So as we're trying to figure It's an amazing staff.

We, I mean, were there cameras?

Did we get a, are we getting a behind-the-scenes doc?

We have to.

I, it's, it's someone who is a great offensive mind.

Yes.

I was just getting ready to say.

And- He knows how to call a damn play so we'll see if that works, right?

Maybe that does win them some games.

I don't know, man.

Like, yes, I'm, I'm with you, but it felt like their issues were, were a little bit deeper than, like, "Let's just bring in this- Play calling OC and, and it'll help what we're doing."

True, true.

I have- They had no idea what they were doing I really think that, unlike last year Do you remember there was, like, one drive against TCU, and- Yeah, and Twitter was going crazy Twitter, NFL media- And then- was like, "Oh my God, Bill Belichick's gonna win all those games."

Yeah.

And then it turned.

I- Quickly similarly, I think TCU is gonna be very good measuring stick- Sure right out of the gate in Ireland.

Which is also not easy.

Then to come back and readjust and figure out- It's a whole thing.

Yeah.

There, there's a lot that's stacked against, UNC changing their win total significantly this year.

But I do think TCU and where they're trying to be this year, what they're gonna look like offensively, with their changes and their overhaul, I think they're gonna be a really good match-up to, to let us know if we can expect anything different from Chapel Bill.

I'm not holding my breath.

I'll put it like that.

But who knows?
