Cubs Have Their Work Cut Out In Second Half
Despite a dominant first-half surge, Chicago faces a grueling path with the league's third-toughest remaining schedule against elite division rivals and powerhouse contenders.

What is up, Cubs fans?
And welcome back to Cubs Roundtable.
I'm Joey Polizzi, talking about all things Cubs.
And the Cubs put together a very successful first half of the regular season.
Now, given all the injuries that they have dealt with this year, injuries to guys like Cade Horlen, a setback with Justin Steele, Jamison Tyone, Edward Cabrera, Ben Brown, all on the injured list.
All those injuries, the Cubs still sit 12 games over .500 at the All-Star break.
A good point the Cubs are at at this point in the season.
They own the top wildcard spot in the National League and are slowly but surely closing the first place gap in the National League Central standings.
The Cubs only trail the Brewers by five games right now.
But things will not be easy for the Cubs here in the second half, as the Cubs have one of the hardest remaining schedules after the All-Star break.
Obviously, tough schedule.
Cubs are gonna have to beat some really good teams.
They have some schedules upcoming against teams like the Yankees, the Dodgers, the Braves, the Brewers for seven games, the Cardinals, the Marlins.
All these teams have pretty good records at this point in the season.
Even some of the, quote-unquote, "easy opponents" the Cubs have, not so easy, because they play a Red Sox team that has been really, really hot.
They play three games against a Tigers team that really has been playing much better baseball recently.
And they'll play three games against a Nationals team that has a top offense in all of baseball.
So it's gonna be a tough schedule for the Cubs.
The Cubs have the third-hardest remaining schedule in baseball, only behind the New York Mets and Cincinnati Reds.
And this goes off of strength of schedule of the opponents that the Cubs have remaining, win percentage moving forward.
So a tough stretch here for the Cubs moving forward.
But if the Cubs continue to play baseball like they have recently, where they have won 15 of their last 21 games, they will be just fine here in the second half.
