Cubs Have An Important Stretch Upcoming
Trailing the division-leading Brewers, Chicago enters a high-stakes gauntlet against NL Central rivals and Wild Card contenders. The surging offense must overcome elite pitching to secure a postseason foothold.

What is up, Cubs fans?
And welcome back to Cubs Roundtable.
I'm Joey Polizzi, talking about all things Cubs.
And the Cubs have a tough upcoming stretch, a very important stretch for the Cubs here before the All-Star break.
That tough stretch begins on Friday night against the Milwaukee Brewers, where the Cubs will start a three-game series up at American Family Field.
Obviously, a big game for the division.
Cubs sit six-and-a-half games behind the Brewers for first place.
They've already been swept once this year by the Brewers.
Another sweep, the Cubs would find themselves nine-and-a-half games in the division.
So a big series for the Cubs, and it won't be easy by any means because the Brewers are throwing out their three best pitchers, Jakob Misiorowski on Friday, Kyle Harrison on Saturday, and Brandon Woodruff on Sunday.
The Cubs are answering by throwing out Colin Ray on Friday, David Peterson, who they just acquired here, he'll pitch on Saturday, and potentially Vince Velasquez or Jordan Wicks on Sunday.
So a big series for the Cubs, a tough one, and another tough series upcoming against the Padres and the Cardinals, two teams that the Cubs are kind of neck and neck with in the wild card standings.
Padres come to town first, then the Cardinals.
Both teams right around the Cubs, one game separating those three teams.
Cubs sit second in the wild card standings.
Cardinals are third, and the Padres are right outside, just one game behind the Cubs.
So six games against those two teams.
A good opportunity for the Cubs to kind of separate themselves before the All-Star break, and the Cubs will end the first half of the season with games against the Baltimore Orioles and Cincinnati Reds.
Both those games are on the road.
And then the Cubs will head into the All-Star break.
So a big stretch of games upcoming for the Cubs.
