Cubs Minor League Update: 1 Prospect Makes Debut, 1 Promoted to Triple-A
Ethan Conrad finally flashes his silky swing in Single-A after an injury-plagued start, while breakout catcher Owen Ayers rockets to Triple-A on a potential path to Chicago.

What is up Cubs fans and welcome back to Cubs Roundtable.
I'm Joey Polizzi talking about all things Cubs.
And the Cubs are making moves down in the minors.
The Cubs have made two significant moves to two of their top prospects here.
The first was recently promoting Ethan Conrad to Single A. Conrad just recently made his professional debut back in late June, played in about five games for the, at the rookie ball level, going seven for 17 with a home run and two RBIs, and that was enough for the Cubs to move him up to Single A, where he just recently hit a two-run home run off a lefty here the other day.
Conrad, obviously great to see him healthy.
He has yet to be healthy so far since the Cubs drafted him 17th overall in last year's draft.
Conrad dealt with a torn labrum last year when the Cubs drafted him, and this year dealing with a back issue before the season that lingered into this season.
But Conrad is now back, and it's great to see his silky smooth, buttery swing in the Cubs minor league system.
Obviously, we'll get a lot of time here at Single A, and you know, there's, there's a chance that the Cubs could promote him to high A by the end of the season.
The second player that really had some movement here in the Cubs minor league system is Owen Ayers, who was recently promoted to Triple A. Owen has really had a great 2026 season, a breakout season of sorts for him after struggling last year, only hitting 238 with six home runs.
This year, started the season at high A, then moved up to Double A in April and now is up to Triple A here in the middle of July.
But Owen much deserving of this promotion, and he is hitting over 300 with 22 home runs in 76 combined games at high A and Double A this season.
Those are elite numbers for him this season.
And obviously, he is currently trending up and has been arguably the best Cubs prospect hitter in the minors this season.
So if he continues to hit the ball well and looks good with the Iowa Cubs over the next six, seven weeks, there is a chance that he could be a September call-up by the Cubs.
